Journey: Osaka 1980--- HQ 22 song YouTube playlist

Postby Hustler » Sat Jan 07, 2012 3:38 am

Don't know if anybody has previously posted this link, but for me this show was Journey and Neal at their ultimate best. No disrespect to Cain fans but I loved the blending of Rollie and Perry's voices, Neal's perfect balance of tone, melody and blazing runs, and the mixing of a few pre-Perry tunes in the setlist alongside the Infinity/ Evolution/ Departure/ Captured material. I've always been a huge Neal/ Journey fan, loved all eras and albums, but for me it never got better than this...

Hustler,

Thank you for sharing these vids. Just the Same Way is so the quintessential Journey....the end with Perry harmonizing with Neal's riffs....true, live musicianship at it's pure best. I also miss the swinging feel of Steve Smith...they guy is so perfect, what a feel he's got.

Thanks again.

This is the video that armchair fans got to see/hear Neal's haunting intro lead to People and Places. Seems this is the only Journey song (in the SP era) that Neal ever got to sing a lead on, right?

THIS is the greatest lineup Journey ever had. This is a concert that I would like to see on DVD/Blue Ray. BTW- wasn't this Rolie's last concert??

Great video, but this is from Tokyo 10/13/80, not Osaka and it was Rolie's final show with band.

I did that. Is there any way to get it so it can play on dvd or bluray players? :?

That explains to me why they played several pre Perry tunes (which I found a bit odd), but glad they did.

Perry needs to remaster this and release the DVD/CD.

Two songs on this are reversed. They are Anytime and Homemade love. It should be the other way around.
