Crochet hooks can be harmful!

My poor 21 year old son jammed a crochet hook way into his foot the other day. The tip of the crochet hook was missing and I finally got him to go to the doctor Friday. I am glad I did. They found a quarter of an inch tip that had broken off and migrated into his foot. The doctor dug it out into his office to save him from having to pay for surgery. He is feeling pretty sick today, running a bit of fever because it had gotten infected. Even the doctor had said they have never had anyone step on a crochet hook and had to remove it!

Update: My son is feeling much better. He won't be able to walk on it for about a week.

I never heard of anyone getting hurt on one of those things though! Wow! He has had total babying by Dan and I for the last couple of days. He was on his own tonight, we went on a date. Tomorrow it will be back to work.

Those hooks are made of steel and it just amazed me that he broke it.

I had stored a box with them in it in his room while he was a college, the only thing I can think of is one fell out and was under his bed so he didn't see it.

Yes, I feel guilty for him being hurt.

This is awful ...I've had a few nails and a hanger in my foot/s/feet, but never one of those!
Poor guy ...I hope he doesn't kill you when he has his senses about him!!

I think he will like the pretty lips comment. No, he isn't mad at me. It was just an accident. I just felt bad because the hooks are mine. They were stored properly in a box, it must have just fell out.

Nah, one of his friends felt sorry for him and baked him a plate of cookies and brought them by. Sympathy visit. LOL!
