A Different Valentine Video Premiere

Howdy folks!

Just wanted to share the new video for my song "Hoping For You," which is on the CD next month.

The video is set to the film "Let Me In," an American remake of the Swedish horror film, "Let The Right One In." The song itself is a very spare and barren ballad, and I think it fits the film perfectly.

The song also features a classical guitar solo by John Spinks of The Outfield, which IMHO is the centerpiece of the entire tune.

Let's put it this way. It's a gray area; it's for promotional purposes, and realistically there's millions of these sorts of "fan edit" videos all over YouTube. I haven't submitted it for advertising w/YT and it's a pretty harmless edit. I can't speak for Hammer Films' legal department, but if that kind of thing was routinely enforced nobody would have time to make any movies anymore and the internet would go out of business, LOL.

Thanks! Chris and I wrote this when we were 15, for a church summer camp talent show. I guess we wrote it one afternoon in my parent's living room? The song was a pop song at the time, kind of a mid-tempo thing with a piano intro, then the guitars and drums kicked in after the first verse. The guitar solo was a sax solo at the time, as Chris was a mean sax player, and this was the 80's, so sax solo was required.

I did this arrangement myself when writing for my CD over the past year. I knew the song wouldn't work in it's original configuration, as it didn't have a very defined structure, lacked a chorus, and had a very dated arrangement. Instead I reimagined the song as a gospel hymn, a very quiet song with a bit of a dissonant play on the gospel style background vocals. I knew it wouldn't work without that brilliant classical guitar solo, and I'm glad John obliged. I am glad you like it, and it's one of my favorites on the CD, even if it isn't a traditionally structured pop song.

wow...that's a thick heavy gospel/church style voice in that tune. Not my cup of tea, prefer the melodic rocking JF voice instead. Good luck with the CD!
