Thank you for posting this, RVR.

You were pretty impressive.
I always have the utmost admiration for anyone who can speak in front of people on an occasion like this.
How you were able to overcome the emotion and speak so clearly is amazing.

Well done.

And Cheyanna [I remember when she posted here briefly as RockinCheyanna] was amazing too.

Still can't believe he's gone.

Stu you did us all proud! :D :D Have to say you got me all choked up again, but that was beautiful. His children were beautiful and I enjoyed hearing about their thoughts on their Dad. I am so going to miss him. But every time I misspell a word I am sure he will be wishing he could reprimand me in his usual style. Thank you Stu for doing what I would find impossible to do...and for being a wonderful friend. I wanna meet you someday so I can deliver a nice big hug to you.

Just had the chance to view this. Great job Stu, especially for scrapping any prepared material and speaking off the cuff like that. Very touching.

I use to drive Dean fuck-hole crazy when I would say "Of coarse...." instead of "Of course." Every time I would say it, he would comment on it saying that I drive him totally loopy about not keeping the right word in perspective and in the correct context. His response's were golden because he never went one post without letting me hear how it drove him insane. Good stuff. 8)

Stu,

Thank you so much for posting this. Thanks to Lula and family for allowing such a personal moment to be shared. I haven't really said a lot, but that's because Dean not being here on this site, in this life, doesn't seem quite real to me either. For me, the forums have always had two speeds, quiet and Deano! And boy was it ever quiet in those months we saw no Deano posts. Kind of like it is now. (No disrespect to my fellow members and Andrew). God, how I hate the quiet.

Now where is Deano when I need him to blast me for being a deviant Christian for taking the lord's name in Vain?

Dean. You're great. You are missed.

I had the opportunity to exchange emails with Cheyanna and came away from the exchange knowing what I already knew...Her dad was simply a great dude. She described her dad as always being "selfless" when it came to his children. Also, she made a comment about this site and the people on here that I thought I would share. Her exact quote to me was "In the end, you guys were really the truest friends he had."

I keep signing on to this site 10 times a day, still baffled that Dean isn't with us. I'm still pissed at myself for not taking him up on his offer to take a train trip with him. I guess my liver is thankful I passed up the trip  , but definitely not the rest of me. Now that the NHL playoffs are on the horizon, I think that I'll be a Canucks fan just this one season.

Very good job Stu. I know he loved it, and you did him (as well as everyone here) very proud. Thanks for making it dusty as shit in here!!!  I really wish I could have been there but this is the next best thing. My heart really goes out to Lulu and the kids. I hope they pull through this, and I wish we could organize something here on the site to help them out... Any ideas anyone?

I am all for donating money for the baby. What about Dean's funeral expenses. I know with my father, that even a simple cremation, plus viewing and service the next day cost me $4,000. It would have been double that had I proceeded with an actual burial.

Funny you should say that John... I was thinking about that just this evening... we were out at one of our favorite restaurant/pubs and the Blackhawks game was on, and I started thinking "omg, who am I left to trade smack with when playoff time comes?" because CHI and VAN have faced off the last 3 straight years and it was a lot of fun every year just shooting the shit with Dean during those series. :( :( Such a bummer.

I can relate. Dean and I had quite the time going back and forth during The Stanley Cup Finals last season. Dude LOVED the Canucks, and couldn't stand that they didn't beat the Bruins. I'd love to see the Canucks pull it off this season just to know that Dean would enjoy every second of it.

I'd love to help, but with 3 kids myself, I haven't got shit right now. The MR coffers are empty.

Well, get on it dude! What will if take for you to make an event with us? I still yet have to meet Matt, but you top the list of one of the people from MR I would love to meet and simply chat and have a beer with. I know you have a wonderful family and a newborn, but maybe one of these days when or if you find the time, we can get a group and meet up somehow. Deano was always mentioning you in trying to get me to talk to you about get-together's but we all knew your stance haha.

When I met S2M at my nearest tattoo parlor when him, Mel and Lynn came for the Pittsburgh show, first thing I said was "John From Boston is coming, he's meeting us here in 30min." And Mel was like "Oh awesome!" but I followed with "just kidding." Haha. That would be great.

Yep, the Vancouver/Calgary games aren't going to be the same. Almost everytime they played I'd get a pm starting the smack. LOL always wanting to bet something. Even if I was out and missed the game I'd still get a chuckle from Dean's pm's after the fact.

He loved his hockey and Canada, especially Vancouver. I don't know how many times he sent me the link to that Vancouver Olympic celebration of Canada's Gold Medal win over the US........."doesn't that make ya just tear up?" He had such pride in all things Vancouver and hockey.

Dean was on my case forever to meet up with him, and I am truly sorry that I didn't. I genuinely really, really liked the dude. We communicated so much over so many years, that I felt like we knew each other well. It's was sort of odd. As for a future meeting, anything is possible, but you are correct Travis that it's a bit difficult with two young children. One of these days

Not me, lol, and neither does she that I'm aware of

Speaking of trains, I remember when a group of us were in San Fran and Dean explained how they turn the cable cars around in the streets there in certain places, how the pumps underground worked, etc. He was very intelligent, as anyone who knew him knows, and it was interesting to listen to him explain all that.

We talked about a couple of us going to a game together sometime and he told me that before we go I had to learn all the lyrics to Oh Canada! That cracked me up! (I think he meant it)

I was one of the lucky ones..He came to stay with us in South Carolina and with me in Philly suburb when I moved there. Took him on a tour near Villanova and he loved it there .

Got to spend time with Dean and Lula in California also.

Dean was one of a kind.

My love to Lula and all of the kids.

That's not true. We all had our arguments and fights through this forum but noone despises you. In fact, you're one of the most liked in me eyes because you've been one way and one way only since you first started posting. I'm telling yah, when the time is right and if you ever decide to go to a get-together (esp being your first time) it's unreal. A true blast and even though it's the first time meeting people from MR, it's like you've known them forever. Really a unique situation, one to where we ALL (the ones that have met up) have enjoyed and the excitement and good time exceeded the expectations. I'll be rootin' for yah one day to come on out.
