Will they ever...?

Will Journey ever do another "Evening with..." tour? Looking back, the last I can recall seeing them do that type of show (not counting the Generations tour, which I saw as well) was maybe during the De-Tour. Otherwise, the times since (with JSS and Arnel) have been multiple bill shows.

Is it that the band doesn't want to play smaller venues on their own? With that in mind, concern of scheduling? Cost feasibility?

I guess I bring this up because like many, I've grown tired of the rehashed sets with barely one surprise song here or there -- to most people's chagrin, I was enthused to see La Do Da listed during the last tour (even though I couldn't go to any of the shows).

I think the band was hoping that with the success of Revelation and them being a 'world band" now, they were thinking to actually go further up the food chain and get to headline stadium shows again. Small venues and "a night of" seems reserved more towards the individual solo projects each member has going on now days.

Yeah, I wish they'd get creative again with the set lists. I think the double threat of Separate Ways and Ask the Lonely is a great way to begin the show, but it's definitely unoriginal. Isn't there some sort of formula for generating set lists beyond sheer fiat?

Yeah exactly. I think Journey would rather do a triple play concert in a big venue with more people as to playing in a 1500 seat theatre on their own and making alot less money. Really I cant blame them, as this point in their career they have payed their dues, and should be playing larger venues.

It just gets to be a bit disappointing as a fan when you know what to expect before even going in so-to-speak. I guess if anything I would rather see just double bill shows instead of triple due to the time crunch put on the band.

The triple bill this year is really surprising. I thought when they did their detour tours in the past, they wanted to just have one opener to have a longer setlist and play stuff they usually don't play when they are touring the big market Cities. Looking at the other shows at the venues Journey is playing this year and I see a lot of double bills, not three band packages. I don't quite understand why Journey is going that route. Are they worried about Pineda's voice? They're not touring Europe or anywhere else this summer so it's not like they are doing a hundred shows this time out.

Hey Steve, I used to live on Fairchild AFB just down the road from Airway Heights. When I saw that town listed on the tour, I just about fell out of my chair because back in the early 80's when I lived there, it was a nothing ghost town! Is it still that way today?

Airway Heights has grown huge. Quite a bustling community now. I lived in Spokane from 1961 to 1983. Now I go there about 3 times per year.

I've always thought that they used that triple bill thing so they don't have to play any new or obscure music. In other words, they can hide behind the excuse of "we've only got 75 mins" or whatever.

Airway Heights has grown huge. Quite a bustling community now. I lived in Spokane from 1961 to 1983. Now I go there about 3 times per year.

I lived there from 80 to 83 so I was there when you were. Saw my very first concert ever at the Spokane Colliseum in 1980 - it was Blue Oyster Cult.
