But this time is different. Neal adores Arnel. He never had a particular love for Perry, except for some of the songs they co-wrote.

Schon making that statement is an attempt to make all other Journey singers "equal" to Perry, and hence minimize Perry's place on the pedestal.. above SA, JSS and AP.
The irony is - Schon shouldn't have to do this in the 1st place, unless he really does feel threatened by the Perry mythos.
