No...not if they are in a 3 bill rock-n-roll show. Even though the Faithfully one is short...still.
(And that's taking nothing away from Cain's beautiful playing either.)

I'm sure they'd include Eclipse songs if they thought people wanted to hear em..

Hey Gid, I think the phrase for that exact situation is, "Never let the left hand know what the right hand's doing."Gideon wrote:RyanHippFTW wrote:Classic rock radio ruins everything. Journey can get away with this if they'd quit advertising to the audience that song X is from new album Y. They rolled right into Never Walk Away from Any Way You Want It last night seamlessly, no introduction, and everyone stayed on their feet. They didn't know the words, but I saw plenty of people singing along to the chorus when they had it figured out. It seemed like they were under the impression it was a Perry classic that they weren't familiar with: same for La Do Da and Anytime.

Announcing that what they are about to hear is "new" is basically saying it's "foreign" to them and the apprehensive and nervous synapses kick in and they become disoriented and confused about what to do.

Correct. They should know by now that people are close minded and should adjust their behavior accordingly; when in doubt, deceive.

Outstanding that you didn't generalize your statement and commend you on your detailed post. ANY reader would have no trouble whatsoever understanding what the fuck you meant anywhere in your post. Kudos and welcome to the forum!

When the did the whole City of Hope push to death they killed the record...worst song by far.
Resonate/Someone was there best bets and only until the record tanked, they tried to release Resonate, but failed miserably with
the hag that starred in the video.

Yeah, I think they wanted COH to be seen as a sequel to DSB and ended up driving the whole damn album off a cliff in the process.

YES! If this is accurate that there were two solos, that alone makes it a killer show.
I really don't consider them to both be solos. The one right before Faithfully is more of a intro/interlude and the one before OA is close to a solo but still not a full-on "solo" per se.jestor92 wrote:Is there a real need for 2 Cain solo's?

Third row, Neal's side, best seats I've ever had. Got plenty of eye contact from Neal, especially during NWA, since I was probably the only one there who knew the words; Ashley got a pick and my father got a high-five from Arnel. Arnel was on fire, on par with his 2008 performance. I'm glad they changed up the setlist and I enjoyed hearing "Anytime", but I was irritated that none of my wishlist was granted and there weren't any songs played from Eclipse. Definitely a great show all around, but I wish they'd get their balls back.

Would have loved to have been there! As crappy as some of these Youtubes can sound at times, that wasn't too bad. JC actually sounded pretty decent.

Dontcha just love the way Neal flings his picks?!![]()
I was front row, center for the Generations tour show here in PHX with a bunch of friends from the old Journey BackTalk forum and my buddy, JourneyDean and I were directly in front of Neal at one point and he flings a pick which hit JourneyDean square in the forehead and actually cut a tiny slit in his skin - not deep enough to leave a scar but it bled nonetheless! Unbelievably, he actually found it on the ground after it ricocheted of his head and the stage monitor before finding its way to the floor.

Regarding the high-five from AP....
The first time I met him, was after we had been introduced via an online chat via a mutual friend who was also one of his hosts here in the states shortly after he semi-moved here. I was doing a series of feature articles about him and his road to stardom. We had chatted off and on for the better part of a year before we finally met and even though I had watched countless videos of him, I hadn't realized how little he actually is. In contrast, I'm a fairly hefty guy - 6'0" 240 lbs - which is a giant in his world. When they band rolled into PHX his first time, I got to the venue a little earlier than the time we were scheduled to get together. When I got backstage to where he was, he was hanging out with some of his Pinoy friends just chillin'. I walked up behind him and said, "Hey Dude, I'm JRNYMAN!" and put my hand out to shake his when he turned around. As he turned, it dawned on me just how small a pkg. 5'3" and 120 lbs. actually is.When got turned around far enough to get a look at me, I could see the shock in his eyes and I swear he did a quick glance left and right to see how far away the closest security guy was.

As we shook hands, his disappeared in mine and I actually said (and regret it to this day...) "I didn't realize you were so small!" DOH!!! What a fucking dumb thing to say! He was cool about it and laughed and shot right back at me with, "I didn't realize you were so...... BIG!" and it was clear he meant "FAT". I deserved it and it actually kinda served as an ice breaker for our first face-to-face. I'll admit, the tats actually do make his upper body look bigger than he did before he got them.

Throwing out the festivals which are money losers anyway,
2008 52 shows - 31 sellouts
2011 71 shows - 17 sellouts
2008 35 million
2011 38 million
2011 gave them an 8% increase in profit but they had to increase their performances by 26% to reach that. Was the monetary gain equal to the wear and tear of adding those additional shows?

You must blame consumers for the failure of the Edsel, "New Coke" and Cop Rock too.
