Madden '13

Postby Liam » Wed Aug 29, 2012 1:22 am

I think I might break my normal routine, and get this year's Madden THIS year. I normally would get '12 after '13 comes out. Hell of a lot cheaper that way. The most recent one I have is '11.

You sound like me. Actually, for the longest time, I just played NFL 2K5. I liked it much better than the Madden series. I can't remember the last Madden game I owned, but I always bought them after the next year's edition came out so that I could get them for really cheap. I never saw the point in buying them every year at full price. For what? A few new animations and updated rosters, and maybe one or two new features which may or may not be any good?

There are 2 reasons I'm thinking of going after it this year 1) the graphics are a LOT cleaner and 2) updated rosters and classic rosters (per my understanding). I'd LOVE to play as Staubach vs. Starr or something.

Oh...I should mention that I'm not a gamer by any means, but this and Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron are musts for me.

I'm too lazy to play video games often. How pathetic is that? Okay, maybe lazy is the wrong word. But really, some of the games these days are a bit TOO involved. Like with the Madden games, for instance, I just can't be bothered to learn all the controls, so what happens is that I buy the game, play it for a bit, randomly mashing the buttons, get bored, and then forget about it. I miss games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, where you didn't need to study a book to play them. If I'm going to actually devote time to something, I'd rather it be to something else, like writing music, learning a language, etc. When I was a teenager, though, I definitely had more patience with games. I remember playing some old-school RPGs where I had to use graph paper to map my progress. I'd never do that now.

I definitely miss the old school games like Zelda (1st one), and these games today...while pretty damn cool, I can only play them once in a while. I don't understand how people can play them all day, every day....or parents who let their kids do that. Want to know why your kid's are pale fatasses?? They've never seen the sun, and they don't get off the couch, and eat nothing but crap, 'cause you don't know how to parent.

Anyway...I was the first generation of Nintendo...and I couldn't even do it back then. If I was playing Mario bros. or something, and my buddies came over and said "we're playin' football", I'd say "great", and hit pause. Not anymore...kids now say "wanna play football??", and bring out the PS3 game".

ColecoVision was my first console. After that, I started gaming on the Commodore 64-- that's when I got into the more complicated stuff, like the Bard's Tale and Wizardry games, etc, which took WAY too many hours of my life! After that, I got an Amiga computer, and did a fair amount of gaming on that. Then a PC. The problem with PC gaming, though, was I got sick of always having spend several hundred dollars to get the latest graphics cards, more RAM, etc, just to play a new game. So I finally got an Xbox, and now I have an Xbox 360 (which, I kind of regret, since there are more game for the PS3 that appeal to me, but I got the 360 because I wanted to still be able to play my old Xbox games. Now, I don't game enough to bother spending money on a PS3.)

One thing about the Xbox I'll give over my PS3 is the fact that the store has more retro games....like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the Arcade...PSStore has some, but not that or Contra. Pisses me off.

The last madden I bought was '08 (still playing it today). I just don't feel the need anymore
to run out and buy the latest release. Now the WWE games that's a different story 8)

I'm the little brother, or as what mom would call me, "the baby" (fuckin HATE that.) Anyway, I was always demoted to 'watcher." My bro would have the honors of handling the controller while I sat and observed. It became my role. To this day, I'm the watcher and love it. I'm no gamer, only play Madden and ONLY Madden, but I can sit there and watch my brother play games and have a blast because I knew my role and shut my mouth as the youngest of the bunch, haha.

I'm the youngest of 5, and if any of my siblings were like that, I'd tell them to get off their asses.

If you want the true classic games, then Wii is the best system for that. I like PS3 network over Xbox cause they have tons of classic PS One games , plus you can play those games on PS Vita as well.

Now back to your Madden, The best thing about buying the 13 would be the online community cause once 13 takes off, then you wont find many people to play against on 12.
I dont play Madded, but the best sport game I think EA makes is their NHL series. The NHL 13 demo is super fun! cant wait for the actual game next month.Love the team play where you join a game and every single player on ice is human-controlled!

Same with me. Current video games take too much time to learn.

Funny how the only game that's been in the Xbox at your place WAS Madden.

The presentation style of Madden 13 is much improved over "12". It has the feel of a CBS broadcast, with Jim Nantz and Simms being much better as announcers. Good game.

I came close to buying it and downloading it onto my PS3 last night, but I decided to wait.

I need to find out who gets it, and who has PS3, so I can play y'all sometime. Too bad Xbox, and PS3 online doesn't work.

And I spoke too soon...went and traded in a couple of games that my friend gave me (for this reason. lol), and I got Madden '12. Got it virtually free (had to add .30), instead of forking out another $40+. This'll tide me over 'til Christmas.
