Journey 9/22/12 Blossom Music Center

Postby Journey/Survivor » Sun Sep 23, 2012 3:39 pm

I just got home from tonight's Journey show at the Blossom Music Center near Cleveland.
This isn't in the order that they played the songs, but here's the set-list.

Lights
Anytime
La Do Da
Wheel In The sky
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'
Any Way You Want It
Don't Stop Believin'
Stone In Love
Escape
Open Arms
Separate Ways
Faithfully
Ask The Lonely
Only The Young
Be Good To Yourself
Faith In The Heartland
Never Walk Away

Neal played a couple of guitar solos. Jonathan played a piano solo.
Arnel sounded great.
It was a great show overall.

Loverboy and Benatar were great too.

Was Jon on rhythm guitar for FITH or was it the shitty Revelation version where he's on keys?
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

The revelation, album version, blows away that other version. Have not heard it live, to be fair.

Gotta disagree on this one. I enjoy the Augeri version more. But hey, everyone has their own tastes. Not saying the AP version is terrible though.

Augeri's version destroys the Arnel version. The Revelation cd sounds like they ripped the balls off a an angry dog and replaced them with christmas decoration balls.

I love both Augeri and Arnels versions of FITH.
Augeri`s version has more a raw character while Arnels version is somewhat smoother.
Arnels version of The Place In Your Heart is recorded a half step down and sounds a little more melancholic.
Both Arnel versions of FITH and TPIYH are superior in sound quality.

Arnel's version of the Place in Your Heart? Where is that? I've never heard Arnel do that song anywhere.

I think it was on the Japanese release of Revelation.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I downloaded it off of Youtube. Probably not as good of sound as the CD? But hell, it was free that way.

That sucks. They really neutered that song on Revelations. It's a shame because it the original was a killer song and IMO is one of the best post-Perry songs they've done, but Arnel's version really is neutered and watered down making it shitty like the rest of the Arnel catelog.

Found it. Thanks! Weird thing is how they lowered it to a different key for Arnel's version. I wonder why? I actually like Augeri's better on this. Not that Augeri can sing better than Arnel, but it just has a different vibe and more attitude I guess.
