Beyond that, Pineda doesn’t add much, other than a vapid enthusiasm: he can smile, he can run around the stage, and he can sing like a million bucks, but he hasn’t really put his stamp on the band.

There are plenty of better reviews out there this year, so a few sour ones don't really matter, as they outweigh the few like this.Beyond that, Pineda doesn’t add much, other than a vapid enthusiasm: he can smile, he can run around the stage, and he can sing like a million bucks, but he hasn’t really put his stamp on the band.
Cannot agree with this. Journey is not in business because "Pineda doesn't add much". Let's just delete the singer and have Deen sing from behind the kit and see how that goes.![]()

Review: Journey fun, and really familiar
It was fun to hear some of those old tunes. But the new ones didn’t measure up to the old, .........
The result was a very good 95-minute Journey’s-greatest-hits live show, barring the new tunes.
Not so great – other than the aforementioned new songs – was the Schon-Cain rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Benatar’s and Loverboy’s respective sets were great, because neither had any new-song filler – just the old hits.

I'm not sure what he said that is not true He seemed to be looking for something new and
unique from AP after having spent a few years w/the band, something that says, "I'm Arnel and I'm the
lead singer of this band now." He didn't see much of a change, no biggie ...no problem.

Loon or no loon, the reviewer has clearly issues with Pineda not being original or not putting his own stamp on the band.
What does this reviewer expect,Pineda rearranging the vocals on the classics?![]()
The reviewer writes: "The only times Pineda could be credited is when Journey plays new songs but they can`t measure up to the classics".
Now,Who`s fault is that,Yup Pineda`s,not Cain or Schon who wrote the songs.

I think the reviewer clearly has a problem with AP as a frontman. As far as rearranging anything, I don't think that
is necessary ... e.g.
Kelly Hansen sings the Foreigner classics the way the audience expects, but he owns the stage while doing so.
Steve Augeri, from what I understand, took charge when he fronted Journey. (until tapegate) and in listening to folks around here
JSS did a great frontman. Why AP doesn't address his audience and try to get them pumped up is anyones guess, that may
not be his choice either, but as frontman it is his responsibility. There are many who don't think the
new songs measure up to the classics, but that is the type of audience Journey (and many classic bands) attract ...
and a good possibility as to why they continue dropping the new songs from the setlist.
Facts
1. AP has a great set of pipes~sings like a million bucks
2. AP runs all lover the stage ~Vapid enthusiasm
3. Smiles
4. It was fun to hear some of those old tunes~The classics were heard
5. AP does not address his audience enough
Opinion
1.The new songs aren't as good as the old
2. AP does not address his audience enough
3. He has not made his mark ( I disagree, the running all over the stage has definitely made an impact)
4. Sounds like Perry (perhaps, but without the emotion/nuances)
Reviews like this could actually be conStructive ...but I think the band realized that, other than the voice,
AP had the vapid enthusiasm and perhaps they better keep that in order to replace the lack of communication/
connection w/his audience.
He went from energizer bunny (Revelation Tour)
to Duracell (2nd Revelation Tour) back to Energizers for the Eclipse tour?!?
Bottom Line ...frontman better learn to take the heat, it's a lot of pressure.
