I WOULD go back and see them live if Perry came back - just so I can say I got to see Perry live in concert, but other than that, I think I'm pretty much done seeing Journey in concert.

I saw Perry live on the FTLOSM tour and it wasn't pretty. I cringe at what he might sound like now but I don't think we'll be hearing from Journey with Steve anytime soon.

What you are the new Perry basher of the forum?....such a great title to hold

You're full of shit, as usual, Portajohn.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

I've listened to many boots from that tour where he sounded great. As what Storyteller said, Perry had gotten sick halfway through the tour. Anyway, simple point being, I would go back to see Journey live if Steve Perry returned, but that's purely a hypothetical situation and one I don't ever expect to happen.

I was at the first night of the Beacon theater show (FTLOSM). It was the night before the boot video found on youtube was recorded. Sorry, Steveo, but he was in fucking excellent voice.

I've seen Journey many times with all the replacement singers. I was at the Hollywood Walk of Fame after concert where I was in spitting distance of the band. I've heard Deen knock the songs out of the park. I've heard Arnel do his usual excellent job of covering the songs -- but here's the difference:

When Perry sang, he changed the molecules in the room. The man didn't just sing, he connected. That's the difference between a singer and an artist, and Perry was an artist with his instrument.

I'll never forget that concert.

The best explanation of the difference between singers that I've ever heard. Great post man.
