Lost a childhood friend today

Postby AR » Tue Apr 23, 2013 8:09 am

He was only 42 years old and his wife is 6 months pregnant. One of the worst days of my life. It's also my wedding anniversary ironically enough (but that is a good thing and helping me to stay grounded)

This is my buddy Tommy in our Kidergarten classroom just a few years ago at a reunion.

This is devastating.

Sorry for your loss, Ed. Keep your head up and keep him near in dear in all the great memories I'm sure you've experienced with him. Losing a friend, especially at a young age must be AWFUL. To hear his wife is pregnant is gut-wrenching. Again, sympathies my friend.

Lost Deano last year. Terrible.

Tommy is so much younger and he would get himself checked out (unlike me). I've known him since the 70's

Similar scenario though. 2 people gone way too young. Just at a loss. Thanks for reading my ramblings.

I'm so sorry, Ed. My sincere condolences. That's an awful loss.

I remember when i was young a good friend at work died in my arms(we were friends at work only, (but close) that was brutal), i went home that night and on the way home i saw a very close friend a couple houses up from mine and he stopped me and asked if i was okay, i told him i was upset/ pissed that i just lost a friend, he said yeah it was horrible about john, i said John? he goes yeah isn't that who your talking about? I said no, i was talking about my friend Jim at work he just died in my arms tonight........He said, i dont know how to tell you this but , your good friend john was just killed in a car wreck(decapitated), and your best friend is in ICU and it doesn't look good. These guys were 18-21...just horrible, my best friend survived thankfully but he's never been the same since the wreck. 20,40 both way to young to go, theres no way to really comfort someone when that happens. The only solace i found was believing that "only the good die young" .As simple and ridiculous as that sounds, there always seems to be some truth to it. Sorry to hear about your buddy Ed, something tells me he was one of the good guys.

Ed, my heart goes out to you. 42, man I can't imagine the grief his family must feel. Way to young. And it's funny, well not

really funny, funny, but I've had friends die young also. My of the best, Mick, died at only 21 thanks to a drunk illegal alien.

I've always related "Only the good die young" to someone who leaves our life to soon. He was a great guy and highly

competitive. Ed again, it's hard man I know, I feel for ya!

Ed, Sir, I'm so sorry to see of this. :(
Was he ever a member at The Annex when I was around?
He looks so familiar, maybe it's another person I'm thinking of.
Happy belated Anniversary to you and Mrs AR, I wish you many more, indeed.

Thanks all. Read all the replies. Yulog's story sounds really tough to have dealt with. Can't imagine going through that man.

Toughest part of this is knowing my friend will never know his unborn child. He had called me a few months ago so excited. It also makes me feel guilty as sin. As some long timers here know I wasn't exactly on board with becoming a dad myself. Yet I have been lucky to have known my daughter now for 7 years and learned what it means to be a parent.

Again, thanks everyone for the support. It is appreciated.

Sorry for your loss AR & your friends families loss...

Buried a fav uncle last week..so still in that 'Why'...period..
Still makes me think...when we have family & friends around..
we need to make time & memories with them now......
instead of procrastinating..which I am guilty of...
As long as we have the love & memories of them...they will always
be part of us...

He's never been on that site that no longer exists....... 8)

Thanks Moonie. He was just a wonderful guy and the fact that we will have to tell his soon to be born son (named after his older brother who was also one of my best friends) is a responsibility I'm not so sure I am up to.

I miss being an asshole on this site before I got banned at times. (Kidding Wombat)

Just being honest now. Getting older.......

Tomorrow and Friday will be about as tough as I've dealt with losing a friend younger than me. Reality check = big time.

I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers as you say your goodbyes.
You'll do a fine job of sharing your wonderful memories of him with his Son.
He will now learn of his Father through the second best teachers, those who loved him.
Hugs to you and all of his family and friends, Ed.
