For me, ALL the Superman movies have been pretty subpar with the exception of II. I hope they get it right this time. The first preview looked great. I'm kind of annoyed that they've trotted out Zod again, but we'll see how it goes.
You want to REALLY be annoyed? Go see Star Trek Into Darkness.

Same dialogue, same reference, same poses, same story, same everything. Way to usher in a new generation! Pitiful. STID didn't learn ANYTHING from one of the most disappointing movies from 2006!

The best part was the deal at the beginning. Totally different storyline, etc. Why didn't they make THAT the movie rather than the terrorism, let's all swap lines, junk. Cost my wife and I 30.00 to see it in 3d and man, I was annoyed.

Let's hope.
Cut the Reel: Man of Steel restores hope in Superman’s ideals
Everyone knows Superman. He is a symbol of hope, the strongest fictional character in comics, and even if he isn’t the most popular, he is the most recognizable. The new film will establish something that is overlooked a lot: Superman isn’t the greatest because of his powers, but because of what he stands for.

HOLY CRAP!!! You're not kidding V! I saw it last night (didn't see your post till just now). I was PISSED.
REALLY? We're going to use old plot lines and even SCRIPT LINES??? I was really annoyed with that.
I always liked the Star Trek movies with Shatner, etc. (sue me) and while the new cast members do a credible job of walking in the shoes of Nimoy, Shatner, Kelley, etc.- the scripts have just sucked and have offered nothing original.
The last one used time travel (AGAIN) I guess to make it so history was changed just enough that the reboot didn't have to follow the timeline of the classic show.
But the new one... MY GOD- can we not come up with ANYTHING new here? If we were just going to rehash old scripts (albeit good ones) then what's the freaking point??? I was SO pissed about that.

I know man. I wasn't even looking for it. Thought I was safe on a Supes forum before somebody accidentally didn't use the spoilery tag correctly for all to see ( right now, it's a war-zone of spoilers everywhere. I literally army-crawled to my computer today when loging on to a website.)
The spoiler has been confirmed. Very close of my sources who have seen MOS in advanced screening said it to be true . In a weird way, I'm glad I've seen it because we've ALL been debating it and it's B-I-G. Oh.......IT'S BIG! It's going to really add a new dimension to the Superman character we've never seen before moving forward into this world he lives in. I'm even MORE excited to see how it plays out. That's ALL I'm saying

Fuck. I wasn't even thinking about it, and then you say it's confirmed and "B-I-G"...and my mind races towards one thing and ONE thing only. That's why I'm avoiding the comics forums this week and next week. If it's what I think it is, that's badass.
Just for that, I'm going to force you to watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovnUj8zR3lM
YoungJRNY wrote:0:22 of that video has been consumed and now.....I am left disturbed. Nonetheless, the spoiler COULD be multiple things since there's a TON of 'stuff' going on that most say this is a movie you HAVE to see atleast 3 times just to have a full understanding of the creative nature that was engulfed in this movie when thinking sequels. We should exchange cell numbers and you can text me your INITIAL reactions when you're walking out of the theater. I'd be curious.

I expect nothing less from Goyer and Nolan. Nobody else has a hand in writing it, right? Nolan deliberately tries to avoid and discourage cheesy stuff, too. That's what I like about him. He was criticized for not liking Batman and being "embarrassed" he was doing Batman movies (which made no sense), but he was just trying to treat the character somewhat seriously. I'm not sure if I'll see Fri/Sat/Sun, but I'll see it opening weekend for sure. I'm not watching these two last trailers because they keep revealing stuff and the trailer three trailers ago was puh-lenty. To see somebody already rate it better than Avengers means something because while that movie's story was laid out face value-style, it was the first of its kind to be done that well and on a big budget.

Superman will forever owe The Bat.

Yeaaayeaa, we'll see in Worlds Finest![]()

And in other not-so-interesting news, the next Star Wars movie is allegedly centered around the Solo twins (boy/girl), Jaina and Jacen, who are 17 and trained by Luke (yes, Mark Hamill). Jacen is emo and turns to the Dark Side, absolutely convinced he's doing the right thing. Wait, didn't they already tell this story?
