What the Fox Say

I don't know man. I'm not sure if I should laugh, or maybe I am subliminally being coerced into a cult. Or maybe there are weirdly dressed people robbing my house as I am watching this, because I can't quite look away. I know it can't simply be entertainment. There has to be more. Otherwise, why?

But me and 10 million others seem to be curious enough, I guess.

a ripoff of what you'd hear on Dr. Demento but some of those were funny. This was just plain bad. Couldn't make it past halfway.

Here's something weird from the Dr Demento show but actually entertaining.

anyway, back to the fox song, the beat, breaks and some of the sounds are exactly like this (@ 1:50) so maybe its a ripoff of that

Wow... just wow! It's currently #29 on billboard and has only been played 50 times on US radio. Number of views has doubled since your post and it's blowing up faster than Gangnam Style did initially!
What the fuck is it with songs like this? Is there something subliminal? Illuminati-ish? Reading some of the comments, it's clear everyone else is wondering the same thing... "Why can't I stop watching this?" "I don't even know what I just watched or why or how this video even got loaded in my browser!"

It's kinda along the lines of those unexplainable mega-hit songs that had none of the traditional things you find in successful hit songs. A few examples that readily come to mind:
Cars - Gary Neuman
Whip It - Devo
Walk Like an Egyptian - Bananarama
Money (That's What I Want) - The Flying Lizards
Pretty much anything by Sinead O'Connor
Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum

wow.. that was lame..

Yo steve.. you can't compare it to those songs you listed.. those songs had original lyrics and a melodic hook.. except for anything by SInead O'Connor :P

(btw its the Bangles.. not Bananarama)... :D

Hoooooold on there Skippy! You're saying "Ring-Ding-Ding-Ding-dingeringering" "Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho" and "Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoff" AREN'T original lyrics?!  And as for a melodic hook, that's the precise problem with this song and songs like it. It does have a repetitive melodic freakin' hook - the kind that gets in your head and doesn't leave. Hours later, you're putting gas in the car and without even realizing it, you're whistling or humming the fucking thing and you actually become disgusted with yourself for it!   Or maybe that was just me.... :P
And while we're on the subject of the "original" lyrics, in what universe does a seal say "ow-ow-ow"?!

Total brain fart on The Bangles... How could I forget Suzanna Hoffs and how freakin' HOTTT she was back then?!

Yeah and very surprising it came from somebody who's Norwegian. On the other hand, I think it was a Swede or a Finn that made Numa Numa the worldwide phenomenon it was. Yes, yes it was originally done by three Russian guys but the viral video with that fat guy is the one I'm talking about.
Either way, pretty disappointing coming from the Norwegians. I've just always expected better from them for some reason.
