PS - Gary is crazy. He's a freelance writer, nowadays,
and doesn't work for the Free Press anymore.

I can't believe I fell for that, hook, line and sinker.
1. The residency- that made sense to me, especially at this point in Steve's life.
2. The album has been talked about for a long time, so maybe it really could be time and happening.
3. Song in a big summer movie. Yep, that could make sense, if 1&2 happened.
I failed to read the last sentence, feeling optimistic that something new was gonna come from SP.
This should have been posted downstairs, but maybe not. It would have sent the loons into orbit, then crashing back to earth, when they figured out it was a belated April fools joke. Well played!

Exactly. It would make sense. Perry could have big guest stars like Eric Clapton or Elton John for one show each. It would be huge. If it really happened, I might have to move to Vegas so I could see every show!

Except one problem. He cant sing the old hits they way MOST people (not loons) would want to hear them
not even for one night much less multiple times a week. the karaoke style Eels performances wont cut it.

I think he would like to do something like that as well. I would bet if he could release some new songs
And just be able to perform those without people expecting his dirty dozen version he would love that.
I totally respect him for NOT doing injustice to his legacy. He had some fun with the Eels and it was fun
Seeing him have a good time, and I would love to hear some new songs that he would sound great on.

He knows what is going to be asked and what’s expected...yeah i’m working on an album, it’s almost done...got a couple of tracks left..because that’s what people want to hear. It’s nice getting the attention but the truth is...nah, not very much. I’m living my life. People think he’d be boring if he said he’s just enjoying life at his home with his lady, couple of dogs and an adventurous cat who shows up every couple of weeks to visit and say hi. Goodness, he’s a legend, someone did say that and being a legend at this point in life you can say that. Music is fun but not at the top of the list every single day of his life. I might be wrong and I have been, but keep asking and he’ll keep telling you, yeah, still working on that music.
scarab wrote:First in the BTM Episode he said he was really thinking about touring.
Sometime in the mid 2000's he said he owned StevePerry.com and was going to put info on it.
Later he said he was sketching stuff to write an autobiography.
Then the 50 new songs interview.
There was all this buzz about musicians saying they were in the studio with him.
Then after the RNR HOF he said he was finalizing a new record.
To this day I truly believe being the perfectionist he is, he does not want to create something to fail.
When he did the solo releases When youre in love and I Stand Alone and they got little to no attention.
I hope we hear him sing again, live or on a record, but after the 2016 interview when he said he was in the studio for months and he would be releasing something the next spring I cant get excited at all.
This is why this April Fools Joke from the first word did not get me.
