There is really no defending a sore loser, EVER. I didn't vote for W. in the last election, but didn't say a word about it, after the guy won. I still think he's a complete jackass and buffoon, but he's a complete jackass and buffoon, that the American people voted for! The truth of the matter is that McCain has already started the "sour grapes" campaign, about the money Obama has spent on this campaign. While I don't even disagree with McCain here, I think what he's doing is VERY counterproductive!

People use 'sour grapes' the wrong way 100% of the time. THIS is an example of sour grapes:
Wanting something real bad.....and then when you don't get it....saying that you didn't want it anyway. In the case of the actual fable where the name came from, the fox...in not being able to REACH the grapes that he wanted real bad....states that they are probably rotten anyway....

Yes, technically, this is still a two-party state, but one of the parties is like Elton John’s post-Oscar bash and the other is a church social in Wasilla. As David Sedaris put it in The New Yorker:
“I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. ‘Can I interest you in the chicken?’ she asks. ‘Or would you prefer the platter of s—t with bits of broken glass in it?’

Well, to be honest, I’ve never much cared for chicken.
McCain vs Obama is not the choice many of us would have liked in an ideal world. But then it’s not an “ideal world”, and the belief that it can be made so is one of the things that separates those who think Obama will “heal the planet” and those of us who support McCain faute de mieux. I agree with Thomas Sowell that an Obama-Pelosi supermajority will mark what he calls “a point of no return”. It would not be, as some naysayers scoff, “Jimmy Carter’s second term”, but something far more transformative. The new president would front the fourth great wave of liberal annexation — the first being FDR’s New Deal, the second LBJ’s Great Society, and the third the incremental but remorseless cultural advance when Reagan conservatives began winning victories at the ballot box and liberals turned their attention to the other levers of the society, from grade school up. The terrorist educator William Ayers, Obama’s patron in Chicago, is an exemplar of the last model: forty years ago, he was in favor of blowing up public buildings; then he figured out it was easier to get inside and undermine them from within.
All three liberal waves have transformed American expectations of the state. The spirit of the age is: Ask not what your country can do for you, demand it. Why can’t the government sort out my health care? Why can’t they pick up my mortgage?
In his first inaugural address, Calvin Coolidge said: “I favor the policy of economy, not because I wish to save money, but because I wish to save people.” That’s true in a more profound sense than he could have foreseen. In Europe, lavish social-democratic government has transformed citizens into eternal wards of the nanny state: the bureaucracy’s assumption of every adult responsibility has severed Continentals from the most basic survival impulse, to the point where unaffordable entitlements on shriveled birth rates have put a question mark over some of the oldest nation states on earth. A vote for an Obama-Pelosi-Barney Frank-ACORN supermajority is a vote for a Europeanized domestic policy that is, as the eco-types like to say, “unsustainable”.
More to the point, the only reason why Belgium has gotten away with being Belgium and Sweden Sweden and Germany Germany this long is because America’s America. The soft comfortable cocoon in which western Europe has dozed this last half-century is girded by cold hard American power. What happens when the last serious western nation votes for the same soothing beguiling siren song as its enervated allies?

No, sorry. History proved no such thing. In the Cold War, the world did not stand as one. One half of Europe was a prison, and in the other half far too many people — the Barack Obamas of the day — were happy to go along with that division in perpetuity. And the wall came down not because “the world stood as one” but because a few courageous people stood against the conventional wisdom of the day. Had Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan been like Helmut Schmidt and Francois Mitterand and Pierre Trudeau and Jimmy Carter, the Soviet empire (notwithstanding its own incompetence) would have survived and the wall would still be standing. Senator Obama’s feeble passivity will get you a big round of applause precisely because it’s the easy option: Do nothing but hold hands and sing the easy listening anthems of one-worldism, and the planet will heal.
To govern is to choose. And sometimes the choices are tough ones. When has Barack Obama chosen to take a stand? When he got along to get along with the Chicago machine? When he sat for 20 years in the pews of an ugly neo-segregationist race-baiting grievance-monger? When he voted to deny the surviving “fetuses” of botched abortions medical treatment? When in his short time in national politics he racked up the most liberal – ie, the most doctrinaire, the most orthodox, the most reflex — voting record in the Senate? Or when, on those many occasions the questions got complex and required a choice, he dodged it and voted merely “present”?
The world rarely stands as one. You can, as Reagan and Thatcher did, stand up. Or, like Obama voting “present”, you can stand down.
Nobody denies that, in promoting himself from “community organizer” to the world’s President-designate in nothing flat, he has shown an amazing and impressively ruthless single-mindedness. But the path of personal glory has been, in terms of policy and philosophy, the path of least resistance.
Peggy Noonan thinks a President Obama will be like the dog who chases the car and finally catches it: Now what? I think Obama will be content to be King Barack the Benign, Spreader of Wealth and Healer of Planets. His rise is, in many ways, testament to the persistence of the monarchical urge even in a two-century old republic. So the “Now what?” questions will be answered by others, beginning with the liberal supermajority in Congress. And as he has done all his life he will take the path of least resistance. An Obama Administration will pitch America toward EU domestic policy and UN foreign policy. Thomas Sowell is right: It would be a “point of no return”, the most explicit repudiation of the animating principles of America. For a vigilant republic of limited government and self-reliant citizens, it would be a Declaration of Dependence.
If a majority of Americans want that, we holdouts must respect their choice. But, if you don’t want it, vote accordingly.

^^^^^^ That is exactly why I will never put up any political sign in my yard or sticker on my car (besides the fact that stickers are tacky) even for a candidate I was thoroughly behind. These scumbags think they can assault you and destroy your property because you "don't think right." Classless, bottom feeding pigs.

Vandals hit the Virginia Oaks neighborhood in Gainesville early Saturday, spray-painting anti-McCain profanity on at least 25 homes, the clubhouse and several big box stores in a nearby shopping center.
Police got the first call about 2:30 a.m., residents said. Many of the homes vandalized in the golf community at Lake Manassas had McCain-Palin signs in the front yard.
Most of the homes, garages and utility boxes were scrawled in red and black with “F--k McCain” but there were also several homes hit with “666” followed by “See What Happens.”
The culprits also struck at the nearby Virginia Gateway shopping center off U.S. 29, spray-painting outside Giant, Target and Best Buy with similar sentiments, residents said.
The vandalism comes a little more than a week before the Nov. 4 presidential election pitting Democrat Barack Obama against Republican John McCain. Traditionally Republican-leaning Virginia is considered a battleground state this political year. Last weekend, McCain rallied in Prince William County. On Monday, his vice presidential running mate Sarah Palin is set to speak in Fredericksburg.

Right TNC... because the anarchist leftys only demonstrate peacefully. How about the guy who had a McCain sticker on his pickup truck and someone filled it with dog shit? These are all actually McCain supporters, aren't they? You couldn't be fair if you had a gun to your head.
I saw a family marching around a busy street corner yesterday holding yes on 8 signs. In CA a yes vote on 8 is a vote to amend CA's constitution to ban gay marriage. A proposition I couldn't care less about, quite frankly. However, I was beyond annoyed at these people because they had their young children carrying these signs. I think it is a despicable tactic when the left uses kids as props and am equally appalled (and embarrassed) when I see the right doing it. The mother asked me if I knew about prop 8 and how I would be voting. I told her she should be ashamed of herself for pimping out her kids this way and kept walking.
If your only measure of accountability for bad behavior is what their political belief system is and NOT what is truly right or wrong, then nothing you say really matters at all, IMO.

Mark Steyn is probably the best writer out there for conservatives. As I mentioned, I posted the column for them.
I don't care if Obama wins anymore. Life goes on. We just bought 2 new cars and a great car for my 17 year old daughter to drive. Life is good at the moment and we'll continue to live and enjoy it while it lasts. The good news is that when the Bush tax cuts are allowed to "expire" coupled with all the new taxes King Obama will impose on my family, I get to quit working because our tax burden will likely be more than my entire salary. This could actually work out very well for me.

Several media outlets (the vast majority conservative) were left with egg on their faces after they trumpeted up the tale of a McCain volunteer who claimed to have been assaulted by a large black man because of a McCain bumper sticker on her car. On her face was carved a backwards 'B' (meant to represent Obama's name). The Drudge Report called it "mutilation."
It was a hoax. And now, some in the fourth estate are left to explain why they pushed this apparent political ploy. Those in the business who showed some prudence are calling out their competitors for taking the bait.
On CNN today, anchor Rick Sanchez did just that, naming the outlets that not only reported but actively pushed the story of Ashley Todd. In addition to explaining why his station didn't report the story, Sanchez dug the knife in a bit deeper when it came to Hugh Hewitt, the conservative radio talk show host who appeared on CNN Thursday and blamed "that side" (i.e. the Democrats) for engaging in "extraordinarily" disturbing acts.
"Part of the story is the fact that it was reported by the media," said Sanchez. "We would not be telling the story now had it not been carried by so many outlets. As I mentioned before, it was mentioned on, as a matter of fact I have a list and not to mention names, but the initials of the news organizations are Fox News, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Newsday. And also radio talk show hosts went on their radio stations and talked ad infinitum about the story yesterday, one of them even seemingly being a braggadocio about it when he was on the air with our own Wolf Blitzer yesterday."
Separately, the College Republicans -- a group of which Todd is a member -- sought to distance themselves from the whole affair, telling the Huffington Post: "When Ms. Todd initially contacted us claiming to have been attacked, our first reaction was obviously to be concerned for her safety ... We are as upset as anyone to learn of her deceit. Ashley must take full responsibility for her actions."

Man oh man where to start? We already have one of the highest (if not the highest) spending per student in the world yet we rank HORRIBLY in the quality of our education. What makes you think throwing more money at the problem will fix it? I'll tell you what the problem is and you aren't going to like it; Teachers Unions. For example, (I don't have the numbers handy) but I can recall that the administrative overhead for LA County alone is beyond staggering. The left has used vehicles like Teachers Unions to give themselves a nice upper middle class lifestyle. That has to stop. Dismantle the union, slice and dice these insanely overpaid administrators and give more money to the people who TRULY deserve it, teachers. Add in accountability and performance based pay and you'll create a system that will work for the greater good (for a change). It is unconscionable that a first year teacher making 40k has to spend hundreds of dollars out of his/her pocket for classroom supplies while the head honcho is making 300K per year and district administrators are pulling in 150-200K? Is it any wonder we can't get quality teachers? I have a theory about the left and teachers unions but I'll save that for the day the black unmarked helicopters come swooping in

It's absolutely horrifying. She doesn't have her license yet -- we're aiming for mid December. In California, minors are required to spend 100 hours behind the wheel with parents and complete six hours of behind the wheel training from a licensed driving school before they can be issued a license. I'm going to be a nervous wreck the first time she leaves this house in that car by herself, but it's reassuring to know that she will be far more prepared than I was when I first started driving.

I admit that I'm no military expert, but when we bomb a country that is a declaration of war...correct? How can we just declare war on Syria or Pakistan without more authorization than claiming bad guys are in there? Doesn't there have to be some official declaration and/or vote as with Iraq?
