I was getting ready to clock you in the kisser for
saying that Larry, until I went and listened.
He killed his own song man!
Now I'll spend some time listening to the original
to get that awfulness out of my head.

Paranoid (1971)

Black Sabbath, along with Led Zeppelin, were the best at creating a mood/atmosphere for their songs. This one is a great example of that. The link is for a video created by someone for this song, using still pictures. Pretty cool and fitting.

True.He is brilliant and such a well balanced musician.
I like to think of him as an incarnation of Jimi Hendrix - same inovative, daring guitar technique,in a more modern way,sure...

Thanks for posting the video,Dave, loved it.
Funny I was listening to an old Satriani album tonight, "Surfing With The Alien". Genius.

"Always With Me, Always With You" is another great melody and one of my favorite songs of all time.

NP: Crossfire
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
In Step (1989)

Image

For me, Stevie's drug problem really showed up on the previous studio album to this one, "Soul to Soul". There were some good songs there but it was very much a letdown after the first two albums. "In Step" was back to the greatness that was expected of him, in my opinion.

Perhaps my favorite Malmsteen tune AND with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals. It's Turner's best vocal performance, in my opinion.

The video is actually from ABWH (Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe), which is basically the lineup of Yes from that period minus Chris Squire. My favorite Yes song.

I agree...if I could go back in time, and get to pick any band that I wanted to see, it would be them, from this time period...they were amazing!
