I've never seen the video for this before. Pretty cool. For some unknown reason, at the beginning of the video, they show the album cover art for the "Song for America" album. It was released before "Masque" but still in the same year.

Great 80s tune, Dave...their best post-Cetera song, I reckon. A big improvement on "One More Day"...surely the worst Chicago song of all-time...even though it has high cheese appeal.

I really liked "Chicago 17" but didn't care for most of the songs on "Chicago 19". This is a good one, though.

I either really love the cover art for Queen's albums or hate it. This is one that I hate. Looks cheap but this is a good tune. By the way, there's an American comedy group called The Electric Amish that does a hilarious version of this song called "Black Bonnet Girls".

Robby Steinhardt...He rejoined Kansas in '98 and left again early this year. He apparently grew tired of life on the road and wasn't putting forth as much effort as they thought, so they mutually agreed for him to part ways. His voice was starting to slip and his playing wasn't up to his usual standards. Anyway, David Ragsdale rejoined. He was their violinist on their "Live at the Whisky" and "Freaks of Nature" album. He's probably a better player anyway and also plays rhythm guitar. He's a great showman also.

Yes - me too. Chicago 17 is one of the GREAT AOR albums....I found a video for one of the lesser known tracks from 17...and you could say that Cetera is being a little 'clingy' with the girl in this video....

Where do you stand on the cover art for Hot Space? Surely a strong contender for worst Queen cover...and album.

Did they ditch the whole violin idea in the 1980s? I can't imagine it would have worked in that decade...much like Ian Anderson's flute...

Yeah, Steinhardt left after the "Drastic Measures" album, which was easily Kansas' worst album, in my opinion. That album didn't have much violin on it anyway. The band basically disbanded for a year or so and then reformed with Walsh and his bandmate from Streets, bassist Billy Greer (another great singer, by the way). They also added Steve Morse as the second guitarist, along with original member Richard Williams (the guy with the eye patch). Kerry Livgren was busy doing solo material and working in a band called A.D., doing contemporary Christian music.

Phil Ehart, Kansas' drummer, met Morse at a concert they were both attending and asked him if he might be interested in joining Kansas. He did and they released the "Power" album in '86 and "In the Spirit of Things" in '88, both pretty good AOR albums, in my opinion. "Power" was somewhat successful and they had a top 40 hit with the ballad "All I Wanted". There is some phenomenal playing by Morse on that album. "In the Spirit of Things" saw MCA not supporting it very much and they quickly faded. They probably could've had another hit with that album, though. It's not as strong, in my opinion, though Steve Walsh states that it is his favorite Kansas album. It's a good album but, like "Arrival", there were too many outside writers brought in.

Curiously, Morse would play some of the easier violin parts in concert, with Walsh covering the other violin parts to some degree with his keyboards.

Yeah, it's disappointing. There are three or four good songs but most of it is some of the worst crap that band had put out up until that point. They did worse, though, namely the "Hot Space" album. Image

I liked Jazz. "Hot Space" was pretty bad except for "Put Out the Fire" and "Las Palabras de Amor" everything else was crap
