lots of folks make that statement,, and i would have rather seen
ross and steve s. playing ,, but that rythum section sure sounds
solid on the live videos, and on the philedelfia boot randy and mike
do a killer solo together,, i never kept up with either one after ROR...
herbie didnt have anything good to say about mike for sure though,,

I saw

Chicago
Milwaukee
Kansas City
St Louis and
Champaign ILL

The best show believe it or not was Champaign
I drove there by myself over 200 miles to see that show
Loved it
Oh Sherrie was unbelievable
The crowd went ballistic,

Kansas City Perry comes out after soundcheck and hits on my wife does not say hi to me he says hi to her
Neal drives away in a convertable nobody there but me and my wife he say's thank you all for comming like there was 100 people there
He was cool to talk to .
All I kept asking was are you guys going to play Happy To Give
Never happened how foolish,

Froy, you are one lucky guy...I wish I had had the chance to see Perry live...never did...but I was raising young teenage daughters and getting separated in the early eighties...had other priorities....

My daughter did see JourneyJam in Philly(1981 or 1982) when they opened for the Rolling Stones and there were several other bands there also.. of course she said it was fabulous.

I like SP's performances in the ROR tour more than the others, I think he's more animated and seems to be having such a good time. It's been suggested that perhaps there was some 'chemical' assistance there, IDK, but the Mountain Aire stuff is freakin' awesome!!!

My word. That is rare indeed. So it does look like that show may be out there somewhere afterall, and not just in the hands of the band and Steve P. Oh well here i go again, trying to track it down again.

I am pretty sure this is the same file I transferred from VHS and posted awhile back for download on here (EDIT: Yup, just compared the two, the beginning and ending edit is the same). Glad someone transferred it to youtube! :)

As far as the rest of the show, unfortunately this is the only song I have from this (or any) ROR concert. I have searched and searched for years to find anything else video-wise and this is all that I ever came up with. There was one guy years ago that claimed to have this entire show (the person I got this from believed this to be from Fresno, CA, 12/28/86 BTW), but no one I traded with was ever able to confirm this since the dude had a specific list of only other ULTRA rare stuff that he would trade it for. I still do kinda wonder about that sometimes......

Rock on,

Not impressed. Song is rushed and SP is not at his best.

Stop hero worshiping, sounds like crap.

Total clusterfuck. Interesting footage just the same, as I haven't seen it before.

It's interesting to note that Steve is using the same vocal inflections here as he used on the FTLOSM tour. What I mean is he sings the lines differently than the record, and then sings it the same way on the FTLOSM tour as he does here.

I'm just not. The song is rushed and at hyper speed. No respect to the way it was recorded.

Perry was spot on on the Escape tour, no doubt. This is shit though. Play it even faster so we can get off stage. The ROR tour was an abomination.

Your right I agree with you
And there are just too many bodies flying around
Randi Jackson looks bloated
Get him off the stage for sure
Michael Biard what a terrible drummer
How does Perry dump Steve Smith ?

Perryhead here:

I can see why he cancelled the tour. It doesn't seem like he is SINGING, but rather just getting the words out - rushing through stuff just to get off stage. He does seem to be having a blast, but it seems more about the STAGE SHOW and less about actually SINGING the songs with that great voice he once had.

(It does sound like FLOSM tour, doesn't it?)

I try to like the ROR era live stuff, but musically it just isn't there for me.

Do you know what my bootleg collection looks like? If I haven't seen it (whether I like the clip or not) it is interesting and I appreciate the post. Why is that arrogant?

I don't think the BAND sounds good here. I am not only hitting on Perry on this. Seems like they want to race through the song to get it overwith.

Yup, that would be the guy. I had actually traded with him successfully a LOOOONG time ago, and yea, I was almost positive he was bullshitting about the stuff he had, but a small part of me wanted to think it might be possible just to keep the dream alive!!

No idea what your bootleg collection looks like, and I'm sure it is quite impressive. I agree that the clip in question is not the best rendition from that tour(the Phila. Spectrum show sounds much better). However, I just found it odd that you deemed others to be hero worshipping and that you judged it to be interesting only because YOU hadn't seen it. I won't dispute your knowledge, but others are entitled to their opinion. Not sure why I am even talking about this. I guess I'm just bored.

I remember an interview with Neal saying he was doing too many drugs in the 80's. I don't think Perry was the only one getting toasted. Good thing Neal was using the axe instead of his vocal cords. I can't think of too many bands in that era that were only high on life.

Hyperspeed is one of the 'tricks' us singers use to preserve our voices on tour....think about it, the faster the song, the less time we need to hold out certain notes. Trust me, it helps & a LOT of bands do it. Granted, there are bands with crap drummers who just can't keep time or guitarists who start a song way too fast forcing the band to follow suit, but for the most part it is an aide in helping us get through night after night, especially when there are nights after nights after nights!
