Those are great pics, duke ! Thanks for posting them !

The show was great. My youngest daughter found a new rockstar to like now.

I did meet everyone who showed up at the sports bar. How is everyone doing today? Those of you who had to fly home, I do hope it was a safe trip.

Bryn and I didn't get home until after 1 am Sunday morning  ( There is a big story to that, but I won't go into it here).

Thank you, Deano, for picking the both of us up from the train station.

Hey Ratgirl, did ya listen to the cd's yet? :?

Diddo to Gayle's post! Had a fabulous time in the Bay Area! It was great getting to interact with everyone. Think my abdominals are still sore from laughing and having a great time! Thanks Deano for being the "ring leader"! Wishing everyone safe travels back to their homes. Saying hello and hope to see "ya'll" real soon in the next Journey adventure!

And Gayle . . . . "if you think this looks ridiculous, try missing your flight"! [/quote]

Yep, I got it as well as Jen's. I need a couple of days to get everything organized and figure out what I promised to who, but it will go out in the next week or so, I promise.

I had a great time and was awesome to put faces on some of the people who post here and other places. Cant wait for the Florida weekend!!!

It was a great night except for the mentioned sound and tech problems. The Sly and Family Stone medley was pretty cool. JSS and Marco sure have some good chemistry on stage. Purple Rain was an interesting choice, but they pulled it off well. Not exactly the set I was expecting, but very cool none-the-less. It was a good chance to see the guys showcase their talents on music other than Journey.

As mentioned, it was very cool getting to meet some of you all at the bar post show and back at the hotel. Duke and Deano, we'll have to get together for some more Jager Bombs the next time the opportunity allows. Gibby and ClasicRockLdy, nice meeting some fellow fans from the Sacaramento (North Central Valley area). To the rest, who traveled so far, if I did not get a chance to match you with your screen names, it was nice hangin' out with you all. I am glad to hear you all seemed to have a good time on your visit to Northern California. Good to see everyone made it home safe, aside from some unpleasant airplane situtation.

Looking forward to the next time :)

SF-Dano, I think they did Purple Rain because there were some rumours about prince stealing from Journey or something to that effect. Can anyone verify this? The transition to Faithfully was to smooth to be coincidental.

Hey Duke! There's a YouTube link for JSS where he sings a Purple Rain/Faithfully medley. It's an interesting idea, to say the least. I'm glad you guys had a good time, and hoping Clearwater will equally be a blast!!

That was a SS medley. At least in Chicago it was. Very cool. Prince is a bad dude. Very underrated guitarist AND artist.

Donna,

Whenever Deano is involved it is a blast, plus we got 2 maybe three shows that week not just one. Cant wait to see you all again. Baltimore part III takes a roadtrip. Should be fun.

you're right. after prince wrote purple rain, but before he released it, he realized how much it sounded like faithfully. when he explained the inadvertant plagarism to journey, they were cool enough to allow him to release it without any legal problems. there's a journey songbook that's just been released that has a steve perry interview. in it, he explains the purple rain/faithfully situation.

it was fun meeting all of you. i enjoyed the show (especially purple rain/faithfully) despite the tech problems. you all lucked out & had a glorious day for sightseeing! one of these days, i should draw up a map highlighting all the must-see areas & journey landmarks for when you all come visit my city by the bay.

I never really heard anything that could be considered plagarism regarding the two songs. I think they're both awesome pieces of music. I really respect Journey's decision to handle it the way they did.

i guess i shouldn't have used the word plagarism - too strong. more of a similarity. either way, i think it was very cool of prince to admit to it & for the journey guys to allow it. i love both songs.

i don't think a lot of people realize how mean of a guitarist he is. last year, i saw him at the fillmore with his protege, tamar. it was interesting seeing him as the guitarist in the band & not as the frontman. loved hearing him do blazing solos in just about every song. sorry for getting a little off topic here. as you can tell, i love prince!

Ditto!!! He and Neal rank VERY highly on my "Most Underrated Guitarists Of All-Time" list. They are both technically superior to most, blazing fast, and both can play a melody that actually fits a song perfectly.

Really? Took a few family vacations in California (many years ago), and the biggest thrills for us kids was Alcatraz (had to get our pics in the solitary confinement cells  ) and "The Crooked Street".......made our dad drive down that I don't know how many times.

Cyndy,

LMAO! I don't know why that's funny but it is! I guess it's the same thing when folks visit Fort Worth/Dallas. Love that San Fran . . . I can see why the catch phrase started! Left my heart . . . .

Great meeting you and Lora! It's the only time in recent history that I haven't been the only asian around! It was greatness!

We looked at Alcatraz.......from the Golden Gate Bridge. That's as close as we got! Did I mention walking the Golden Gate Bridge is a LOT farther than it looks? However, we were working off the fabulous breakfast we had on Haight street....at the Pork Store. As vile as that sounds, it was awesome!

It was great to meet you, Cyndy!
