Good for you, AR!!! My husband used to play baseball growing up. He quit his senior year in high school and switched to basketball. He still plays that every week. This spring/summer, he's going to coach our daughter's Pinto league baseball team. He's looking forward to teaching the kids how to play baseball, but he's a little nervous about dealing with their parents! I used to be a teacher, so I'll probably help him out with that a bit. I guess the first half of the season has the coaches pitching, and the second half has the kids pitching. Now THAT should be interesting! I wonder how many batters will get hit with the ball? My daughter is beyond excited that her daddy will be coaching!

Parents of kids can be maniacal when it comes to little league sports. I umpired a few games a couple of years ago and had some parent get in my face. So I threw the parent out of the park area and dressed him down right in front of his son. Didn't threaten the man, just said if he didn't leave, his son would not be able to play anymore. Both coaches on the 2 teams backed me up.
I'm sure your husband won't run into anything like that, especially at the Pinto level. However he's right to have some concern.

Haha! Oh the great times we have as parents. I was voted "MVP" last year at one of my son's all-star tournaments by all of the parents because I finally told one father (of a player on our own team) to "Shut the hell up!!" He remained quiet for the rest of the tournament and all that followed! I guess he was scared of me or something!
Jrnychick-here's some advice for you, it worked for me when I was a T-Ball coach, if your husband has any parents that give him a hard time, be sure to point out to them that your husband did not have to win an award to coach and any of the parents there had the same opportunity to coach, then offer to let them be the assistant coach....if they decline then tell them to lay off and not tell your husband how to coach!

Okay I'm going to try that one!!! as soon as I finish off these 20 boxes of thin mint Girl Scout cookies I bought, now in foil wrappers to stay extra fresh....yum! but if you eat an entire sleeve at a time like I do, why would you need the foil to keep it fresh?

Yup - that was them. They didn't play a very long set, though. Not to spread gossip, well, I'm going to anyway, the rumor floating around here is that Stride broke up. Don't have any details on that right now. I'll let you know when I do.
