I'm glad I went kayaking early this morning, the rains have been steady since. Supposed to rain here thru at least Tuesday. Ugh! Messes with my activities, BUT we sure needed rain. It's been dry and many wildfires in Georgia and Florida, been a major drought here in Florida. Today is the first day of hurricane season, so, I checked and restocked supplies today. Always be prepared! 8)

My 3rd grade teacher was one of my faves, too. I had 22 kids in my homeroom this year. 1/3 were consistently good - all the time. Another 1/3 could be good or naughty on any given day. The last 1/3 - always into some shit. Got on my last nerve. I thought a lot of them didn't like because I was tough on them (they were accelerated and needed to do their best work, you know!), but on the last day they all piled on me hugging me. 2 of the bigger boys in the class actually cried! I lost it - I was crying, too. Even though I'm tough and fuss at them, I'm really a big softie.

i think the hardest thing about being a teacher now is
memorizing their names and spellings.. when i was a kid
we had names like mary, john, kyle, and ann,, but now
you got laneesia, brennon, aqquanetta,, debORaa,, i
started walking home from school in the first grade,, go in
the house, turn on the tv,,, i wouldnt trust a 3rd grader
with plastic sissors now..

I have had fairly normal names with kids. When I was subbing, I did have a girl in my class named (I'm totally serious) Tylenisha. I was like, "Tylenol, what??" Seriously, though, you are right about not trusting the kids. Unfortunately, they are not being raised. Not being raised poorly - not being raised. Some parents just let the kids do what they want, and the kids control the household.

Glad to hear Florida is enjoying their rains. I'm enjoying a break in the "action" here. :D

You will NEVER see me pitch a fit about the heat or humidity.
I live for Summer, we have no central air and all I ever need when
it's really hot out is a good garden hose or the kids lil pool.

What a nice, simple life you Amish lead.

I guess I'll be joining you in the rain soon. Leaving tomorrow for Texas. I'll try to get online but may not have access. If not, I'll be back in about 10 days. (yes, that long - I'm going all the way to Lubbock with a 3 and 5 year old - lots of stopping)

Chugging a beer always helps me. Water just fills up the stomach and make it want to do something else if I drink it first. EESH.
