"Arrival: 2001" DVD goes platinum .....

Postby separate_wayz » Sat Jun 23, 2007 9:37 am

The "Arrival: 2001" DVD apparently went platinum according to the RIAA not too long ago. Did anyone else hear this?

Too bad everything else distracted our attention from an honor rightfully earned.

Really? I find this hard to believe. Are you sure it wasn't the '81 DVD? Or the Greatest Hits DVD?

Apparently the Greatest Hits 1978-1997 DVD is also certified platinum, and the Live in Houston: 1981 Escape Tour DVD is certified gold.

Those aren't live lyrics on this DVD you know. Something to think about. Somebody wants to send me 10 dollars for shipping can have mine.

"... aren't live lyrics ..."? What's that supposed to mean? That Steve Augeri didn't sing the songs live? I'd like to see some evidence supporting that allegation.

What a bunch of morons.

He sang it live that night. I was there. However, it wasn't good enough to put on the DVD. They pro tooled his voice.

Nope, about 999,000 were disappointed when they saw it wasn't SP.

Platinum for a DVD is 500,000 I believe, not a million, and yes, the vocals for that live DVD were done in studio, lol.

It happened in 2006, not this June.

Although, I imagine next month, we'll see another bump for GH.

Some people around here need a new set of eyes and ears if they cant plainly see and hear that the sound is not live. Opticians and hearing clinics abound...'bout time for an exam folks. 8)

Is there any way for you to get ahold of an audience boot of the Mandalay Bay show and put us doubters to rest?

From Charles Ted Oliphant, who worked for Journey video in 2005 said this:

"No one has heard Steve Augeri sing for 3 years. I did a video of them in 1999, at the Concord Pavilion, and poor Stevie( a very nice guy), was having trouble even then. People told me it was the best video of Journey they had ever seen, all except Neal Schon who watched my video and cringed as Augeri regularly went off key and his voice cracked. But the following year, Stevie A was really in trouble, and by the time they did the Live DVD from Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nocturne ( the video production company formerly owned by Schon and Herbert) had to isolate all of Stevie A's vocal tracks and 'fix' them in Pro-Tools, correcting pitch, etc. A deviated septium surgery "didn't help matters at all"

Still think I am full of shit?

Is that right? So confusing. I wonder why they changed the equation when the average person knows gold and platinum for audio recordings are 500,000 and 1,000,000?

Damn, I was thinking that when I first read this post, but I wasn't sure if I had my timetable down right or not. I had a feeling if this was the case that this would turn into a hot topic.

So he had one good year? Poor bastard. I listened to Tall Stories for the first time yesterday, he definitely sings in a lower register on that. I liked it though.

If it wasn't for Bill Clinton, Augeri might hold the record for dumping on a guy after he's left a gig. :)
