It's either THAT or some people will not extend credit where due and admit people bought that dvd and made it platinum to see Journey. Period.
Well hell yeah they all bought it to see Journey. They just had no idea that Perry wasn't there or that Augeri was there. Face it 13, 90% of the people who attended Journey concerts at that time didn't even know the name Augeri. Most of them still don't.
They bought the DVD because it said Journey and Journey to them meant Infinity, Evolution, Departure, Escape, Frontiers and ROR. Those albums were co-written and sung by Steve Perry. It was Perry's voice on the radio that they identified with. Only a small portion of the people who were Journey fans in the '80s had kept up with them. They didn't know or care who Augeri was. They bought it for nostalgia, Steve Perry was the voice of their nostalgia and the only name they new, if any, of the band members.
If they went to concerts or the Journey website after the change they sure as hell knew SP was gone. Journey even made notices and posted them at concerts.
We used to go to megabuttloads

of concerts when I was healthier. All sorts of venues and settings. I can't tell you how many times when SA was on stage we heard people telling each other how good SP still sounds!
A lot of people who we ran into don't even do much online as far as band websites or groups like this.
They are just going to hear the hits.
Call it the casual fan, call it ignorant, call it just the one's we ran into, call it drunk, whatever..just stating what our experiences were from those we ran into.
We have a local indoor arena that holds about 12,000. Great place to see a indoor show. Really not a bad seat and the way it's set up, it's a great place to chat with people before the show.
We are rathy chatty people and we have seen almost every rock show that has come to this place.
In all seriousness, most people at these shows have no idea what's going on with the bands.
They hear so and so is coming to town and for nastalgia reasons, they get tickets.
