I keep hearing people saying we shouldn't listen to these claims because they're baseless, but just think about the consequences if these claims are in fact correct and we do nothing.

Rick, nobody here is claiming you shouldn't weigh these claims and I doubt you'll find anyone here that disputes the earth is getting warmer. What we are saying is, look at all the research the decide for yourself.

Many people here don't like being told we can't drive our Ford Expeditions...by the same crowd that flies in Gulf Stream's and Lear Jets, the same crowd that drives H3 hummers and massive gas guzzling limo's.

As a side note
Al Goracle is chairman and one of the founders of Generation Investment Management through which he and others pay for carbon offsets. The firm invests the money in solar, wind and other projects that reduce energy consumption around the globe.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out The Goracle will rake in hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars from all the global warming hype he created.

Hmm, let's see.

Iraq War + Haliburton = Corruption and billions in profit

Al Goracle & Generation Investment Management + global warming hype = Corruption and billions in profit

You see, they are not alike...but then again they have very much in common :)

You're 100% correct Moon beam. On a separate note, I think Genesis really kicked ass! At least they sounded great in the video I saw. I think that Metalica sounded good musically, but James was having a hard time with most of the higher notes!

In my opinion, you don't get a much better frontman than Phil! I collect dvd's, and I've got 2 Phil Collin's dvd's, as well as a Genesis dvd. Awesome performers!!! He's always on pitch, and is very entertaining. I'm so glad they're out there touring again. Just wish they were coming closer to South Carolina! Oh well.

You can do that and I commend you for it.

But ask yourself the following questions and answer honestly. this pretty much applies to everyone.

Do you know who your Congressman is?

Do you know who your Senator is?

Do you know what SPP is? You * really * should!

Did you know there is nothing Federal about the Federal Reserve? It is in fact, a private institution which LOANS money to the Federal Government. Can you begin to comprehend the implications of that?

You should always be suspicious of drinking water from the trough you've been led to. Look around for the trough nobody is drinking from for that trough will contain the water of truth.

There are serious issues within our own government that are equally as important as global warming. Both sides of the isle work diligently at shredding the constitution, stripping away your rights one by one.

No, but I have served over 16 years in the U.S. Army during 2 wars, and made a lot of sacrifices, so that People like you can come in hear and praise tree-hugging!

So I guess this country wasn't threatened when the World trade centers fell, or when our sailors were blown up a few years ago, or the 1st time the World trade center was attacked. Hmm, I guess I just percieved that as a threat! I guess the U.S. soldiers should just bow down kind sir, since there's no threat of attack. As a matter of fact, if people like me quit serving our country, then everyone will just leave us alone, and everything will be peacefull. I appreciate your service, but you Sir are a DUMBASS! If you think we aren't being invaded, just look out the window! When Muslims take over this country, maybe then you'll see!

I've never said that anyone in here Owes me anything for my service. I serve this country proudly, and with honor. I serve because I choose to, and for no other reason. I get goosebumps every time I hear the National Anthem, and when someone like you comes in here with the whole "There is no threat" it makes me furious.

Are you sure you're American?

I certainly appreciate your service to this country. Without you and soldiers like you, we would not have the security to maintain the freedoms and rights we enjoy. My thanks and deepest gratitude to you and the rest of our military.

Good arguments by most here so far. Here's my take...

Is the earth getting warmer? Obviously, it is. As pointed out previously, when surveys of actual scientists in the meteorological and geological fields have been taken, the results are that a majority of them, and a vast majority from what I gather, don't believe in man-made global warming. The more likely causes are normal cyclical changes in the earth's weather and the fact that the sun itself has gotten hotter over the last few years.

Do I want dirty, nasty-smelling smog clogging the air? No, but I also don't want insane politicians enacting humongous tax increases to try to change something that is not going to change the climate. We should clean up what we can clean up, i.e. things like toxic waste dumps, dirty air in residential areas, etc., but let's not spend trillions of dollars on something that is not even remotely proven science.

This whole thing is political...

Don't like Gore? Don't support what he stands for, even if it is the truth.

What is the harm in doing what he suggests. I guess someone thinks what he is saying is true....or else there wouldn't be such stringent emission laws.

Dissing Gore seems to be the vogue thing to do....what a shame people are so conforming to the mob mentality.

I don't dislike Gore, I think he's a pretty damn good man. He chartered several planes from AA and I was one of the ones that got to fly down to New Orleans with him a week after Katrina. He got elbow to elbow with us and helped unload literally a ton of supplies and helped carry them into the terminal, and then was there with us loading plastic bags full of the evacuees belongings as we evacuated them to Lubbock that day. He was just like one of us. I really enjoyed helping those poor folks, and you could tell it had the same effect on him. I'll always respect him for that.

Unfortunately we will be one of the few countries that play by the rules and go to green and bankrupt ourselves trying to do it. China won't do anything and once again America will be trying to do the right thing.
We are already seeing food prices go up due to shift in production to ethanol which drives beef feed up, etc. Farmers will follow the market to grow more plants to meet the demands, thus fewer farmers will plant food for human consumption and our produce will go through the roof.

Dude, that is so wrong on so many levels that it's ridiculous. Posts like this is why you get such bad feedback on this site. I've tried to be nice to you as of late, but I think that's out the window now. You're a jackass.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I'll take the mob mentality over the lemming mentality any day of the week. At least the mob is informed...unlike...well, a Lemming :)

Boy that's original. Did you make that up all by yourself? Don't you have a Che forum you can be hanging out in right now?

Don't like Gore? Don't support what he stands for, even if it is the truth.

What is the harm in doing what he suggests. I guess someone thinks what he is saying is true....or else there wouldn't be such stringent emission laws.

Dissing Gore seems to be the vogue thing to do....what a shame people are so conforming to the mob mentality.

Yeah, fuck it let's pull out. That way Al Qaeda can send everyone to Mexico to sneak over the border and start blowing up buses and buildings with homicide bombers. Our military is fighting a war. That's what they do. Because of the war in Iraq, Al Qaeda has shifted its focus from bombings and massacres on U.S. soil to sending their dune coon calvary to fight our SOLDIERS. Seems like a pretty good plan to me.

The 1st I heard of the Ozone layer being destroyed was back in the 70's . We had satellites that for the 1st time in human history that could see the ozone changes at different times of the year. So then panic and politics ensued and also many ways to make money off something that was and still is a theory. Who is to say that the ozone hasn't been changing over the poles even when the dinosauers were the only inhabatints. I suggest also, that John and Ted and the rest get those windmills installed off Martha's Vineyard and take commercial jets with 200 people on them, get a couple double wides or shut up. They could also offer carpooling in their limos. Amen !
