The war we are fighting in Iraq is to keep them fight THERE! exhaust their resources.
In 4 years over a million coalition troops have cycled through Iraq, around 4,000 men and women have died -horrible yes, but dude no one is being sent to their death as you put it. Your statement has an emotional tone and its meant to be inflammatory, but it adds nothing to an argument.

Good post. Al Qaeda is just now starting to realize that they're getting their asses kicked. We've all but destroyed their network. They're close to being bankrupt, and without money to support their operations they become MUCH less of a threat. While we're nowhere near the end of this war, we're not doing as bad as some like to claim. The media only focuses on the negatives, never the positives.

Hey G.I Jim....don't you have anything better to do - like recruit young men and women, so they can be sent to their deaths in Irag?

Technically, you are correct however Al Qaeda is ahead by leaps and bounds in the PR war. Even the mighty American military is vulnerable when our enemies have the likes of Pelosi, Turban Durban, CNN, etc pulling for them.
If Al Qaeda leaders have 1/2 a brain, they'll sit back and let us defeat ourselves. More and more Republican's are jumping ship on Iraq. Bush is radioactive right now and nobody wants to go near him thus I predict a total troop pull out in 18 months or less.
Tyler wrote:Skylorde,
it is a mess, no doubt about it, but in retrospect what was a better plan?
Skylorde wrote:The better plan was to not invade Iraq. Saddam was a whore and we could have made him our bitch again with a little incentive.
If we took all the Iraq war money and spent it on securing our borders, shoring up our military technology, funding programs for alternative energy (hybrid technology was on the horizon in 2000) and building more Nuclear reactors to generate power, we'd be in a much better position right now and we'd be far less dependent on middle east oil.
Now the alternative is we pull out and Iran takes control of Iraq's oil supply...or we stick it out with our Marines' having their hands tied behind their backs because liberals cant stomach seeing pink underwear on the heads of prisoners. That's a fuckin mess alright.

You really are a patriot aren't you? No, I think I'll quit recruiting. It's obvious according to your posts, that we haven't had a threat, or been under any kind of attack since WWII. And for your information, several of those people "Sent to their deaths" are great friends of mine. Why did you ever even serve your country, if you don't believe in it???

Just keep allowing the rich white politicians to send the poor to war to fight their silly battles. Again, we were lied to in order for us to get over there. Once we were there, the admin. knew we'd be there 'indefinitely'. Nice scheme, huh? ONCE WE WERE THERE. All Bush had to do was get us there....And the public fell for it.

Thank you Rick. I can understand a difference of opinion Socratic Methodist. That's your right, but when you basically call me a baby killer for recruiting people into the military and "Send them to their deaths", that's when I cross the line. I think we can agree to disagree, but when you throw out something like that, I'm not leaving it alone...Not fot one minute.
Do I like us being engaged in war? Nope, like everyone else, I wish my friends were back here safe with their families. I do think that since we ARE there, and we ARE engaged in a war, it's important for us to finish. Otherwise, everyone who fell from those buildings, were crushed to death, or died of related causes died in vein.
I could never accept that, and I don't think you really want that either. I just want this country to be safe.

Illegal aliens are more of an issue in this country than the threat of terrorism. If the government wanted to 'protect' this country, it would make sure everyone had healthcare......and had a chance at employment - as opposed to getting 'undercut' by cheap illegal labor.
I apologize for my statement.
