The correct answer is ...

Hinders it. It IS making it worse. There's no way around that one.

We either fix what we are doing, or put irrepairable harm to our environment. The intensity of that warming has been proven to be higher than ever before. Again... the scientist thing. They tend to know their stuff.

If you don't want to be a part of that, drive a hummer and suck up more gas. But it's clear, the size of the population and the waste that is being dispelled by that population is more than this planet can safely handle without major changes. So we either do something about it, or wait until Florida is underwater. I'm using my bicycle more, and my car less for around the town stuff. I have to take responsibility for ME and what I put out on the planet. Imagine if we all did.

Worse..imagine if we don't.

So do only the scientists who agree with man made global warming "know their stuff"? Because if scientists "know their stuff" and that applies to all scientists, what you have is a disagreement between two sets of people who know their stuff. I am not saying people should not be environmentally concious at all, but the ones doiing the preaching on this topic are some of the biggest hypocrites I have EVER seen! Al Gore doesn't do a damn thing in his personal life to help the cause he is so "passionate" about. He writes a check for carbon credits to excuse his behavior. If this is so real to him, he'd be living the lifestyle, not just telling everyone else what to do.

Again, 30 years ago, scientists (who "know their stuff") were saying the earth was going to freeze from global cooling. This global warming movement is going to go way beyond encouraging people to be more green. It is going to force people into compliance with all kinds of new taxes, fees and other money making scams to fill the pockets of the global warming evangelists.

The threat of Islamic terror is very real and I see that as the biggest danger to civilization as we know it, but there are a lot of people who don't see it that way. I guess everyone who is on the wrong side of either argument will eventually be proven wrong, right?

Humans can destroy things but not the planet... If we had the power, we would have done so MANY thousands of years ago!! Remember God and Mother Nature, together they created the great floods, the plagues and all the other destruction of the planet... not humans, even with all the wars and the nuculear bombs of the 1945 in Japan did not destroy the earth!! BTW, the world will change on the winter solstice 21DEC2012----according to some cultures, from a history program I saw last Weds. So all this global warning stuff, is nonsense!!

On the original topic, some of the music was great some really sucked.

Ok, so let's throw all the garbage in the oceans. Let's remove all the laws about illegal dumping. Oh, and lets burn down all the forestry. And for good measure, lets remove all emission testing and laws applicable to motor vehicles....I mean, if we can't affect the earth, and all.....

Hysteria? Not hardly. The Man has written a book, which was accurate, and also a movie, which has been validated as accurate. He has done his homework. Have you? Listening to Hannity and watching Fox News is NOT researching.

I can't wait until next year, when you lose the White House as well. Watch all you fuckin neocons squirm will be hilarious.

Why must you turn every issue into partisan politics? I don't even listen to Sean Hannity, you idiot! Al Gore's movie has been largely discredited -- even by the NY Times. As far as the White House next year, I couldn't care less who wins. It doesn't matter who wins. Democrats and Republicans are pretty much interchangeable these days. So you can keep talking down to me and calling me names, but the basis for the name calling is invalid. Partisan politics don't interest me.

Well said. So here is what we have going on....I will use new energy efficient bulbs, recycle my cans and bottles, adjust the thermastat 1 degree and be aware of my own actions and feel good about it...meanwhile, Barb will do whatever the fuck she wants, because "there is no crisis."

I have been doing all of those things for years, but not because I think the earth is melting or because Al Gore told me to. Just because a person thinks Al Gore is full of shit doesn't mean they burn styrofoam in their backyard everynight.

The mayan calendar was so general it was like reading Nostradamus. I watched the program too. It could be applied however it was deemed to be applied. All of the predictions were very open ended.

The earth is not ending in 2012. Not unless we blow it up.

This is an incredibly dangerous statement, and I believe it is at the heart of the argument for all the Global Warming naysayers. "Oh well, we can treat our planet any old way and God will save us!" MAN, that type of thinking just terrifys me.
It reminds me of an old tale:
A flood came, and a man was forced out of his house onto his rooftop. When he got there, a boat came by offering to take him to safety. The man said "No no! GOD will save me!" and he sent the boat away. Another boat came by thirty minutes later, when the water was up to man's waist and he once again sent the boat away saying "No no! The LORD will save me!"
Finally, when the water was up to his neck, a helicopter flew by, and the man also sent them away. Right after that, he drowned.
When he got to heaven, he was angry and the first thing he asked God was "WHY didn't you save???I waited and you never came!"
To which God replied (everyone say it with me)
"What do you want? I sent you 2 boats and a helicopter!"

Moral? The Lord helps those who help themselves.

Blind faith that your deity will save you despite how you treat his beloved creation is beyond arrogant.

Did I ask anyone to "Thank me?" Nope!

Yes I get paid for my service, and nobody twisted my arm! I do what I do because I love, and believe in this country!

I did back out of the conversation, then was asked to get back into it!

"Al Gore is a great guy"??? What the fuck are you smoking? You think he does what he does because he cares? He does what he does because he rakes in Millions from special interest groups, and radical left wing organizations. "Al gore is a great guy." You make me laugh! He's also working on that next election!

I agree that we can all do a better job (As posted in my previous statements). The earth IS warming up. The earth has ALWAYS warmed and cooled, changing the earths climates

And what happened to the whole "Oh woah is me, I'm never posting in here again bullshit?" I've cracked up at your posts in the past, but don't appreciate your personal attack!

It's obvious from your attack, that you're about as left wing as they come...shouldv'e guessed! Maybe you could call up Colmes, and you could sit down over a coctail and talk about how great the ACLU is, and all they've done for this country!

First of all, let me first say that I'm not attacking YOU personally, Jim.

I'm willing to bet that a good portion of the people who sign up for the military are made up of these types:

1) Want money for college(the greatest reason for signing up)
2) Have no alternative, aren't college material, and quite frankly - need the discipline.
3) Like guns, and want to kill people(yes, there are those types)
4) Have some sort of degree, and don't mind working for an organization that will end up paying great benefits upon retiring.
5) Want to 'fight' for their country(the least amount of people who sign up)

A few points to summarize...

  • Global warming IS occurring now and has occurred in the past, all without assistance from man.
  • It is NOT MAN MADE but perhaps man-aided to a very small degree.
  • It is NOT TRUE that a vast majority of scientists support man-made global warming. In fact, if you do the research, it appears that a majority of climatologists and geologists support the idea that man is not causing global warming.
  • The sun has been warming in recent decades, adding to global warming.
  • Al Gore is a phony who stands to rake in HUGE profits if even only a small percentage of what he wants done gets done.
  • Much of Al Gore's movie has been debunked and even by liberal sympathizers like those at the NY Times.
  • The only thing carbon offsets do is make environmental hazards like Al Gore feel better about himself while he continues to pollute the environment to the nth degree.
  • Pollution can and should be cleaned up simply for the sake of not having filth everywhere. This will not help global warming but it will at least make the environment look better.
  • Republican and Democratic politicians alike have bought into the man-made global warming myth.

I love how some of you morons claim that if you don't believe in MAN-MADE global warming, then you are some kind of a nut. I repeat AGAIN...GLOBAL WARMING IS OCCURRING. The difference is that not everyone has been duped into believing that man is the cause and can do anything at all about it.

WRONG, since 9/11 that is MOST of the reason--fight for country love of coutnry etc...... the other reasons are liberal streotypes... haha

BTW, remember when the theory was that it was the down and out in the mideast who are the terrorists..

Caring about Mother Earth makes me a Leftist? Wanting National Healthcare makes me a leftst? Speaking out against the Retard in Command over a corrupt and unjust War makes me a leftist? OK, I guess Iam then. Much prefer to be left than right.

WRONG, since 9/11 that is MOST of the reason--fight for country love of coutnry etc...... the other reasons are liberal streotypes... haha

BTW, remember when the theory was that it was the down and out in the mideast who are the terrorists..
explain the doctors role in all this.

I doubt that people are so gung-ho about dying that they are gonna rush out and join. Even since 9/11.

And IF they do, they probably fall into categories 2 and 3.

And as far as the down and out. I'm talking about the poor fucks that seem to be giving our troops(the supposed crown jewels of the world military) a tougher fucking time than the vietnamese. The guerillas in Irag are the poor, and the 'supposed' terrorists.

We must be able to critize and question our own country and our own government - so any mistakes can be corrected.

That is one of our rights that GI Jim, RockNDeano and others in the military are protecting.

It is also why we have 3 branches of government - to provide checks and balances.

It is also why we have election day.

Ok. But me calling this President a discgrace and saying America has fucked up the world in the last 7 years does not make me less of a patriot.

"Al Gore is a great guy"??? What the fuck are you smoking? You think he does what he does because he cares? He does what he does because he rakes in Millions from special interest groups, and radical left wing organizations. "Al gore is a great guy." You make me laugh! He's also working on that next election!

Gore is a quality human being, devoting his time to bettering the Earth. As far as raking in millions, for the next election? Good. GOP is going to be buttfucked beyond belief. I will donate some more to Al.

And what happened to the whole "Oh woah is me, I'm never posting in here again bullshit?" I've cracked up at your posts in the past, but don't appreciate your personal attack!

I don't believe I said you were unpatriotic, did I? I never even responded to your comments about the the president being a disgrace, nor about America "Fucking up the world over the last 7 years". You're entitled to your own opinions, wrong as they may be!

It's really sad that your ego, and only feeling of self-worth comes from this forum. You just can't stand when the attention isn't being directed towards you can you? I knew it wouldn't be long after you 10 pages of posts saying you were'nt coming back, before you came back! What a Drama queen.

You've always struck me as the mousy, don't rock the boat type with rather muted opinons.

Oh no. I never went on about my departure. And you are talking about egos? Dude you posted 56 times in on thread. You are the drama queen, not I.

By the way, yes America has fucked up the world in the last 7 years. It all started in November 2000. Thanks Florida, thanks a lot. You stupid Floridians fucked up not only America, but the entire world.

I sincerely hope and pray that happens. The Republicans have strayed so far from their conservative roots they are fucking useless in their current form.

The left will catastrophically (and hysterically I might add) implode with all that power. I'm banking on the silent majority coming together and putting the word "conservative" back in the Republican party and "righting" this soclialist ship back to the visions of the founders.

On second thought, that's probably wishful thinking. They're all fuckin corrupt :)

No.

SocraticReardonVandelay lets the bridges he burns light his way.

He has successfully smoked Deano out of the swinging doors of the saloon and now 'Drew's wondering if he has enough insurance.
