My sister's water broke on Saturday, she's only 22 weeks. I'm very worried about her babies. To top it off her husband left on Wednesday to go to Virginia for six months for his job and she will be in the hosptial for 2-8 weeks. She already has two other kids, ages 3 and 1 1/2 so most of my days off I'll be taking care of them. I love them dearly but I'm not sure I remember how to take care of toddlers.

So, drink up for me will ya??????

Wow, that's scary, that's not even 6 months along. How long will she be able to carry them with her water already broke?
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

As long as she doesn't develop infection or go into preterm labor she could go another couple of months and they could be OK but the risk for either infection or PTL is very high so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm sorry you have all that extra work, you already work hard enough. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and say a prayer for your sister and the babies. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Thanks guys!! What is supposed to happen will happen. I went up to be with her at the hospital for a while today. I gave her a foot and leg massage and took her a milkshake but she is about to go out of her mind with boredom!!! She is on STRICT bedrest, she hasn't been out of bed since Saturday and won't be until she has these babies.

Wow, why don't you hook her up with an XBox?

Cool. Tell her "it was my idea" and "your welcome" for me. Thanks!

Thanks Jen, I appreciate it! We will need all the prayers we can get for the next couple of months. We need to get them to at least 24 weeks for them to be viable but of course it will be best if they can get to more like 30 weeks.

Sorry to see this Nat.
Good thing she has a loverly Sister to help her out.
Damn.........if my math is correct, this means you'll have
6 kids to watch when your not working.
Think Kirk can handle 6?

I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Yes Moon, your math is correct! But the good part is that my oldest two are 16 and 13 so they will be a huge help and my youngest two are 6 and 8 so they are also low maintenance and will help out with the little ones.

I just wish I could do more for her. My heart just sank on Saturday morning when she called me at work and told me she was leaking fluid. I had her come in and I did an exam and verified that it was indeed amniotic fluid. I sent her to the big hospital-I work in a small hospital and she is now in a very high risk category so she needs a higher level of care than we offer.

I leaked fluid for my first and spent the last three weeks
of my pregnancy in the hospital, no fun but we were ever so
happy that he was born healthy.
Hopefully she will be as lucky.

While we're giving Mommy updates how is your
daughter doing Mindy?
Is she on the antibiotic, how long will she have to
be treated and when will you know if it helped?

Thanks Moonie, the antibiotic appears to be helping, the rash is gone completely. He said that's a good sign. She'll be on the antibiotic for 3 more weeks, and as long as there's no more symptoms, she should be fine. Sucks that they can't do another blood test, he said the Lyme antibodies could be in her system for years...but she won't have the disease. :?

Glad it's helping, hope she continues to improve.

Man am I ever grateful that I've only ever had to deal with
stitches, broken bones and chicken pox with my Son's.

Glad to hear it. I'm doing good. Just got back from a 2 week vacation, had a great time, went up North for a break from the Florida heat. Wasn't too far from Moon, wish I'd had the time to look her up, but hopefully I'll meet her in SB. Today I went kayaking and had my first scuba diving class, so yep, I had a fantastic day also. 8)
