I've become a real big fan of Styx in such a short time. I got into them through Damn Yankees 2 albums, then got into the "Return to Paradise" album, then to "Cyclorama". Then bought the Styx/Reo Speedwagon DVD and the "Return to Paradise" DVD.
It was'nt until I got the "Come sail away anthology" that I was really hooked.
Then I saw the "vh1 Behind the music" special.
Really, this band has been through it all.
Its even made me order the "Grand dillusion" book through Amazon, I Just wanna know more about this amazing band,
What I cant get the most is how they've gone about their buisness with Dennis DeYoung and going foreward without him.
Sure, I wont know the full story until I get the book, but how can you replace such a singer. This guy reminds me of Freddie Mewrcury american style, without all the flamboyance and camp showmanship. I mean, this guys voice is crystal clear.
I know he sounded like a control freak during the bands height of fame, but surely, knew what he was doing and got the best out of everyone.
Basiccly, in my opinion, Styx have done the wrong thing by this guy. On "Behind the music" he says basiccly, the band continued on behind his back while he was "sick" and needed more time. Does Styx think theyu are bigger than him? If they are, they ar'nt doing much of a job.
After seeing Patrick Goohwan (Whatever!!!) singing "Lady", I think its a disgrace. Its like Kiss going on tour and letting Eric Singer sing "Beth".
Sure, I love Styx, with and without Dennis, but without him and after hearing the "Come sail away" CD set, there is a big hole in Styx.
Man!!!! This guy can sing.
"Suite madam blue" is in my head every minute of the day.
