Um, no they shouldn't. If "Pansy Pop" ever becomes a category they'll win hands down, but there was little or nothing "rock" about them.

Ask any of the other contenders and they would probably agree with me.

So you're telling me that the world is full of assholes. :P Tell me something I don't already know.  Who actually pulls out Beatles albums and listens to them? I can't think of too many things more boring than that. I'd rather sit with fuckin' Friga and watch Full House.

Oh geeze, here it comes.....

I actually "pull out" and listen to Beatle albums on a regular basis. My favorites are "Hard Day's Night", "Help", "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver". I was seven years old that Sunday night in 1964 and those sounds were the soundtrack to my entire childhood. I'm waiting, patiently, for Apple Records and Apple, Inc. to come to a happy place and stick these babies on iTunes!

And while they aren't rock as we know it today, they certainly are rock, same as the music in the 1950s was rock. Rock is a progression and if you listen all the way through the years you can see it. It had it's blech times, but each generation builds on it whether they admit to it or not.

Ahem. I must be feeling rather philosophical tonight! :D :D :D :D

No, I am surprised The Beatles didn't win in a landslide.

SJ - Yeah, I said it.
