Turn on NBC and tell me this isn't cool. Donna you are one who should watch. I know Stu and Enigma are watching.

Outdoor NHL rules. Snowing hard. Might make it a bit sloppy though.

You will thank me later fans.

Got it on...This is beyond cool! I LOVE football games in complete snow and slop, so hockey is a natural translation. I must admit that it is VERY strange to be watching an outdoor hockey game with snow!

3X BIGGER CROWD - 76,000 - than the players are used to.

I do hope they zamboni the ice in the TV timeouts. The thick snow layer is making the game sloppy and slow. To you uneducated fans, this is really slow compared to an indoor game, but cooler than shit.

This is Hockey history being made on TV.

This is the way Hockey SHOULD be played.

Happens all the time, indoors as well. Referee just squeezes water into hole and pats it in there with a puck. Freezed almost instantly. It never takes that long to fix though. Usually 5-10 seconds.

Yeah, they can. Remember, they aren't behind the lens camera. Kind of like looking through your car windshield versus head out the window. Plus, there is no protective netting in the end zones like there are in NHL arenas. A nine yr old girl was killed when a puck came off the ice, 37 rows up, hit a guy in the chest, ricocheted off him and hit her in the head. She died at a Columbus hospital later. Many think the puck hitting her wasn't the reason for her death. She had an illness at the time but I digress.

While not great quality hockey (due to ice conditions), the atmosphere is second to none. The adrenaline is surely pumping.
Small thing, but I can't ever recall the Canadian national anthem being sung in the States without a Canadian team playing.
That goalie "Yo momma so ugly" smacktalk commercial for the energy drink is classic.

I can. Twice.

When Gretzky played his very last game in NY against Philly or Pitts I believe, they played O Canada. Bryan Adams sung it and added the verse, "O Canada, we love you Wayne Greeeetzky" It was cool

Secondly, they play it at NASCAR races in Michigan because many of the fans come down from Canada.

I believe they played it as a respect to the Home of Hockey, but they should have had a Canadian club playing. It would give the added atmosphere of nationalism, US v Canada. But then you only have so many cities where this is possible. Cold cities are all in the NE. Boston, Buffalo, NY, and maybe Pittsburgh. You couldn't do it in Minnesota or Detroit because those towns football fields are indoors. Boston wouldn't work as the Pats are still playing, although I suppose you could play there because of the 1st round bye, however, at the time of scheduling, who knew the Pats would be 16-0 and getting the weekend off.

Use college football fields. If Mich/Mich State can attract the largest outdoor hockey crowd in history in Michigan, there's no reason a Detroit game couldn't reach or surpass those numbers, even if the game isn't played in Detroit. Bettman is clueless... he should have latched onto this concept years ago when the subzero Habs/Oilers game was a success.

Fans are nuts...so much energy! Wish I was there, hangover and all. Looks like they're at a rock show swaying and dancing while Neil Diamond croons "Sweet Caroline".

Noticed that earlier too, when they were all singing Living on a Prayer. Even a couple old farts playing air guitar.

Nothing quite like NHL hockey fans!

Question:

Who's uniform weighs more: Football or Hockey? Minus the shoes/skates?
