Do I need to be given the silent treatment by Neal whenever he feels upset over something, which apparently happens more often than not ? Do I need to be treated like an intruder by their callous and moneygrubbing management whenever I wonder if I'll get paid, even though I'm supposed to be in the band ?

They had the chance of moving forward with some prospect of having a new sound. Instead they seem to want to, much like old people who start to reminisce, go back to what they once were. Apparently they don't see that it will be fake. For Arnell Pineda, if he does join, maybe it will be a great move going from a cover band like the Zoo apparently is, to a better and more well paid cover band gig. For Schon & Cain maybe it's a good move going from a real singer like Jeff to someone who can fake it to their liking. For the Journey fans, well, if I was one, I would feel quite cheated.

Me, I am still angry about the inhuman manner in which Jeff was treated. Enough has been said about it, probably. I just hope people won't forget.

By the way: Edge of the blade is one of my favourite Journey songs. It was suggested some years ago that Human Clay should contribute a cover for a Journey tribute CD. That never came to fruition. But since we still have it and it will never be released anywhere, I chose to put it on here for a while, just to show interested people how cool Journey could have been had they not elected to look for a SP clone...hurry up and download, I'll eventually remove it.[/quo

I agree SJ - Bon Jovi are now in a position where gig goers want to hear the cheesy hits - they can try changing direction slightly - but, it sounds calculated and false and does not appeal to their fan base and as such they are kinda in the same position as Journey - i.e. - play the hits!

You missed out on Larry's name changes...those where great! ...you see..when you miss out on episodes of As The MR World Turns it gets hard to follow the plot line.....of course you could go back and try to catch up with reruns but there are those pulled shows...I wonder if Andrew has a bunch of lost episodes in a vault somewhere?

Thing is though, Journey's going to put out an album with Arnel that, as far as I can see, will have a 90% chance of staying 100% within the Journey sound without breaking any new ground or progressing at all. With Jeff, Journey had a chance to completely change their sound and go into what had been uncharted territory with the band. Arnel's a great singer, yes, but with JSS the band had an opportunity to explore a wealth of other influences. I agree with so many of Brian May's points and hold him in a higher artistic regard than Journey as a whole, because he's changed and reinvented what he's been about several times.

I have to admit, I have not followed Brian's carreer since Mercury's passing, but please supply me with some examples of how he has "reinvented" himself so many times. From what I've seen on the periphery (sp?), he has tried to continue on with Queen much as the Journey boys have. Playing only the old hits in a live setting. Again I could be wrong as I am not a huge fan, but I would appreciate some examples to back up the statement.

No, you are not wrong - he did do some solo tours. But, the Queen juggernaut changes only slightly. By bringing in an esteemed singer like Paul Rodgers, this meant they had no choice but to do some of his classics live also - so it veered away from Queen slightly but did not lend any originality. Have to say tho - it was still a fantastic gig! I respect May deeply - he is a fan of the band and yet he can still be honest enough to say they shat on JSS, without actually burning bridges between himself and Neal. I bet if the new line-up play in England - May will be there like a shot and will do his best to be positive about the band.
