this cd has beenout for 4/6 months, the diehards already have it.
his best bet is to get someone relavant to do the duet and get some airplay(maybe).
a country singer would be an obvious choice. but i dont think country radio would play the song.
so maybe a miley cirus would create a buzz.but does regular radio play hannah montanna.
so maybe a celine, elton type is the way to go.
Oh please, please, PLEASE NOT Celine!!!!! *runs and hides under my desk* Cripes, my 10 year old can sing better than her. *shudder*
Want another gravely voice? Tom Waits.
Just my $0.02.

Don't be so negative, Sadie. I think it's sweet that Dennis is still so madly in love with his wife of 38 years (it's their 38th anniversary year) that he wants to include her in everything.

I gotta say I knew Styx was dead when I heard crap like She Cares and Babe and Boat On The Frickin River...
I was like, what the hell has happened to this band that always pushed the edge of heavy duty rock and roll...I kept thinking "JY what the hell are you letting these 2 p*ssies do to you? Get your ass up and rock!! "

The only thing better is "It's the first time for Love"

Wooden Nickel Styx was awesome. JY and JC were stud guitarists...and they had some street cred then. There was a bit of mysterious evil too surrounding them - the Serpent is Rising, Krakatoa and that kind of stuff was just cool. Then Dennis gets more control of the band, Tommy Shaw comes in with his acoustic guitars and mandolins, and what could have been a great hard rock/metal addition to the landscape went away. Why? Because JY was systematically cut down in importance on every record starting in the A&M years so that the pretty boys could sing their pretty ballads. It may be for you, but it is not my cup of tea.

So, Tommy Shaw is just a "good guy" only when he is buying your Petrol? Otherwise, to hell with him? That's almost funny.

You mean by putting this on the styxworld website

Look, I'm on record as not really liking "She Cares" - easily the weakest track on PT. HOwever, calling JC and JY stud guitarists? I like Styx, but I can name any number of guitarists better than any member of Styx past or present. You lost cred on "Krakatoa", a song slightly a step above "Plexiglass Toilet" in the Styx pantheon.
Tommy helped Styx diversify AND DDY encouraged it. What's wrong with that? Part of the appeal of Styx is they were not just doing same-old, same-old. On the same album you have "Queen of Spades", you have "Aku Aku" or "I'm OK". Three very different tunes. They were at their best when all the styles meshed and you got some mixed output.
And let's call a spade a spade - if it was so horrid for JY to accept his "lesser" role in Styx, why didn't he leave? Because he was out touring the world, making music, and most importantly, making money. Look at Steve HAckett. He walked out of Genesis in 1977 over basically artistic differences. JY could have left any number of times. He knew where his bread was buttered.
