I disagree. The show was far from awful. I don't care what anyone says, Arnel can sing, and sing well. His diction is an issue for me, as were his oooooh's and yeeah's at odd times, but, he interacted with the crowd like no other Journey singer, and seems to be able to knock out the high notes with ease. He got a little flat here and there, but the strange little dude from the Philippines was scared shitless.
And everyone's entitled to their opinion. I still think the show was HORRIBLE.
But as far as "interacting with the crowd like no other singer has"....that's just WAAAAAY off. I forget...did you see Journey when JSS was at the mic? If you didn't...you missed a LOT of energy and interaction with the crowd.
Yes but JSS is LONG gone now
Yup...and it was a HUGE mistake to drop him.
Well i'm not going to argue that it was a mistake. But Journey would of not had success with JSS any more that they will have with Arnel, so they are not in a worse position that they where before.
Actually...people were starting to take notice of Journey again when JSS was up front because he was mopping the floor with Def Leppard on a nightly basis. He brought the Perry loons who said "I'll never see Journey without Perry" back. He sparked interest. Now with Arnel people like me are saying "Wow...it's sad that this band is just a revolving door of lead singers to keep the 'legacy' alive". And Arnel is a sub-par singer for Journey. Plain and simple.
We are kidding ourselves thinking that Journey were actually getting noticed.
