But I think the issue here is if Steve can sing live 3 to 4 times a week in a concert setting.
I am sure he can go into a studio and make good music
I am not confident that he could sing in a concert setting right off the bat.
The JRNY door was wide open again and the band could have come together once again but of course Steve gave his speech he is not interested.
I have never seen a singer who has just given up on his career as I have with Steve Perry.
The last thing we have from him is I Stand Alone and that was years ago.

When you think of Steve Perry you think of Journey and thats it.
For whatever reason he wants no part of what has made him a success.
How can you explain that one?
How can you walk away from singing when you are a singer?
I can't think of any other singer who has done what Steve Perry has done.

I remember when I spoke to him on the phone on a Texas radio station and he all but yelled at me when I asked him why he was
playing around with another band instead of JRNY
He used the divorce Senerio with me and I understood that, but as you can see with just about every other band out there a reunion
has happened.
If Van Halen could do it how in gods name can Perry and JRNY not do it?

How can Steve let his legacy be ruined?
All of these copycat singers and he sits and does absolutly nothing.

It makes no sense at all.

Peace Lora

Hey Mike,

Steve's legacy with Journey will never be ruined. His reasons for not wanting to be part of them any longer are his own. I am sure there are many things affecting that decision which we are not privy to. I enjoy his solo material as much as any Journey record, so for me, he is much more than just his contribution to Journey. I hope he decides to share his amazing voice with us all some day. :)

Lora,

Did Steve give any indication on his feelings / thoughts of the "newest" incarnation of Journey?

Thanks for the info.!

Great news to hear that THE STEVE PERRY is still up and going. Hopefully if there is a man upstairs, S.P releases whatever he got in the basement...Polished, OR cob webbed , doesn't matter.. SOMETHING.

But, until he does, Steve Perry is bastard.

Nope, that came from him and it was completely unsolicited. Besides, I will NOT be buying any Perry release outside of Journey. Same goes for concerts...unless it's a one show thing.

I don't know Lora or Cyndi. I don't believe they have a dog in this fight. Do they know Steve? Yes - well enough to still have lunch with him. Do they know the other principals in this soap opera? Absoloutely. But despite the fact that no one is unbiased in this, the post was VERY measured and middle of the road. It's clear they can see both sides of the story.

However, I can say as someone who has had "privileged info" (so-to-speak) in other situations, they were pretty forthcoming while respecting other things. They didn't have to tell anyone they heard demos.

I think anyone with a brain can realize that the complete truth with all of this mess lies somewhere inbetween everything we've read and heard from the principals. They are giving their perspective on events which have the same date, time, and circumstance. Herbie's interview is toned down from what i can tell not only from Castles Burning, but the CRR interview I read but is no longer there. It's clear that they weren't best buds in the 80s, and when things went down at the end, and then at the Bill Graham concert, he was not going to be Steve's best friend. That's OK. Steve was cordial to Herbie in the Walk of Fame - nice move, but it doesn't mean he wants to be best buds.

Steve and Herbie both have good lives afforded to them by Journey. 'nuff said.

LOL...my guess (with all due respect) is the answer would be something like.."While I certainly can't speak for Steve I do know he's out enjoying life and his divorce from Journey in 1998 was final."

Good Job on the post Lora and Cyndi..But,tell us..Where the 3 demos, recent? If they weren't all ballads,I would be totally shocked! Also,in firing Ross and Steve S..what a complete chicken shit move! He starts writing the music with Jon and Neal doesn't even know about it. Neal was basically filler..He figured he would just filter his music into the Journey name and then say,see I was Journey..If the guy was smart,he would put out a new album around the same time as Journey..He could screw all the former lead singers of Journey at once..Arnel(Journey's new album),Soto's new album and Tall Stories,Augeri's new album..Obviously Journey is going to be the only one remotely on the map..But what if Journey had a #20 something song and Perry's solo beat it? Ouch!!

Yep - we still work for FA. Our current clients are the ever-amazing Melissa Etheridge and Maroon 5. We have no involvement with the current incarnation of Journey.

Thanks for the inside info Lora and Cyndi!
Please feel free to keep us updated on any information like this that you're allowed to pass on. In my opinion, you two are probably the only true "inside sources" from Perry's camp that post here, so it's always cool to get even tidbits of info. or stories from the two of you.

Dave, I agree with you for once, LOL!! It's natural that Lora and Cyndy are biased--I think they are his friends; we are biased because we are fans of his and Journey's. It IS a little tiresome about playing demos, he has Journey dear to his heart, doesn't know what he's going to do with the demos, etc. Everybody (his fans) get all pumped and then there's a big, fat vacuum. It's kind of weird.

(Dan, I busted out laughing with the visual of Ben Laden skiing in Israel with that garb on and that awful beardl, ha ha!!! Was feeling a little blue about the thread until I read that!)
