Bwahahaha....because the news originated from Steve Perry (v his promotional 'tools'). Hell, that'd stand up in most courts without a legal path to appeal.

Very unf*cking cool! Calling L&C tools?!

well, it certainly was not meant in the way that *you* interpreted it. Lay down your rediculous assumptions. In this particular case, promotional people = tools. i.e. items that a person uses to get a job done.

Ya ok, why just quote the word 'tools' then, how should that have been interpreted? I'm not an idiot, Frank.

Deb, the fact that the word "promotional" preceded the word "tools" made it crystal clear as to which definition of the word was applicable, and it certainly wasn't the derogatory meaning.

He wants his privacy, and I'm more than happy to give it to him. Shit or get off the crapper is what I say. I'm sick and tired of artists who playfully say with a wink "I do miss performing so much" and then at a high school reunion, tell old classmates that their fans better get used to him being 'missed'. He's talking out of one side of his mouth and shitting out of the other. Same old Perry if you ask me.

This is mighty hard to argue with.

Definitely. The only person who said he can't sing anymore is HH. He CAN sing, but not in the keys that Journey wrote the songs. This means that unless Journey lowered the keys (and I'm assuming at this point a lot more than just a half step) that Perry could NOT tour with Journey or even sing those songs. On his solo tour, everything was at least a half step lower. On those shows, he still sang those songs good in those keys, HOWEVER if Arnel, JSS, or (GASP!) Augeri did those songs in lower keys and with some of the changes that Perry did to the phrasing and notes, everybody would say how those singers ruined the tunes and couldn't do them like Perr-Ney did. You know what? Perry can't do them like Perry did either. That's the way it goes. Doesn't mean he can't sing. Means he can't sing those songs in those keys.

Niggy's monkey wrench comment kind of fits. Somebody always drags Perry out just as Journey is planning to do something new. It may NOT be intentional, but it's sure strange how that always happens. Also, the Nuno stories have gone around since just after FTLOSM came out. We've not heard those tracks either. We'll probably never hear the tracks, and that's okay too. But to constantly say "I really want to do something and I think about it all the time" is getting really REALLY old and somewhat embarrassing.

Thanks for sharing that he's got demos. That's great news. Seriously, he should release them to shut doubters up. I'm a fan, but I'm also a doubter. I don't care if he OR Journey tours again, though I really want to check out Arnel live. I just want to hear new recorded music. Jeez, The Beatles quit touring at the height of their career, but they still put out amazing albums after they left the road. Why can't Perry?

Until Perry actually contributes music to this dog and pony, his words are no more or less 'words' than the words spewed around here or other sites on the internet. Words are words. either back them up or you just expose yourself as a fraud. Plain and simple.

1) This wasn't a friggin press release. It was Lora and Cyndy's thoughts on HH interview, mentioning that they have heard Perry sing recently. Nothing more, nothing less.

2) Few years of bullshit? Perry, himself, hasn't said a word about putting out new material so not sure where he has to back his words up or be exposed as a fraud?

3) Don't worry about Perry's fans.....we are just fine thanks. You (and SJ  ) are the ones with the issue, if you think he can't sing or isn't doing enough for ya, write him off and move on. :? :P

That last one #3 makes perfect sense. I swear, it's not the "Perry loons" who are obsessed. I only hope Lora & Cyndy still want to post messages here or anywhere! They sure get a lot of disrespect when they do. Sheesh!

Honestly, while I can't put words into Frank's mouth, I think he meant it as a sign that he was pointing out that it had a different meaning than the normal use of the word "tools." Frank?

So, just who's the tool? I find it interesting that every time Journey comes out with a new album with a new sounds-like-Perry singer, Herbie comes out of the woodwork with his bitter old fuck routine to slam Perry again.
Hmmm… coincidence?

We were card-carrying Journey Force fan club members back in the late 70's but didn't start working for Journey Force until 1983.

Don't know if anyone can answer this or not but...
I was in the audience once when Steve was cut in the face by something that someone threw on the
stage, it was not the watch incident he's spoken about, it was something else. Do you know how many times
that happened?

Gotta agree with Deano here.
In 98 Perry begs the guys not to tarnish the Journey name.

They procede to:
a) record a pretty good Arrival cd.
b) release a vocally fabricated Arrival DVD.
c) record a mostly crap Generations cd and let ROSS SING LEAD ON A JOURNEY SONG!
d) basically force fans to buy the piece of excrement by builiding the price into a concert ticket....
e) ....which we later found out was being lip-synched, when fans thought they were listening to a live show.
f) Shove a knife in Soto's back by firing him w/o notification after inexplicably naming him the official lead singer.
g) fly a new singer in that they found on Youtube.
h) market and package their new cd as the undercard behind rerecorded hits.

Perry may have been a complete jerk within the band, but he never would have let the Journey name fall to the depths of the above incidents. Outside of the Arrival cd. Neal and Cain have plowed the name right into the crapper.

I put quotes around it for just the distinction Dan outlined...Just goes to show, you can say anything here and it'll get a warped interpretation the minute it gets written to the database.

Although I don't share Franks hatred for Journey  , I got to give him a pass here. I believe he was trying to say that Lora and Cyndy were "tools" as in a vehicle to advance something. I don't think he meant they are "tools" as in dickheads.

So true Redwing. And to think that most of the people here who gripe on about the 'damage' Perry did to the the band a generation ago are strangely tolerant and apologetic when it comes to the wretched errors of the last ten years....

I'm amazed that Perry is able to stay so discreet on the subject...given that every 'new' venture from Journey is just another attempt to tour his songs and rip-off his voice. Perry could have been really interfering and destructive by giving mean-spirited interviews in the manner of HH or taking the piss out of the band on radio or whatever else. Instead he's kept his silence...so I really don't think there's much to back-up this conspiracy theory.

I agree with you. I usually just skip over such posts. Or I just edit that kind of language out. I don't let it bother me. I've heard worse in nursing homes. Or when someone bangs a hammer on their thumb. Lord knows I can drop bad language at a drop of a hat. I've can get very colorful. But I chose not to. But don't worry, if it gets to bad Andrew will just lock the thread. He's done it before.

I used to go visit a friend in the nursing home, but I had to pass by one old lady that would start cussing me out when she'd see me coming down the hall.

Then she'd make me sit down and play a few hands of poker with her. When I'd get ready to leave, she'd glare at me, let me get way down the hall and then scream, "DON'T GET PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!! All the nurses would crack up.

Sorry for the ramble, but I just remembered her when I read this. Cool old gal.
