Am I the only one that doesn't find it inappropriate? It's just not that creepy.

As for the other picture, it's been done before...

Sexualizing children is always wrong, regardless of if it's been done before. Unfortunately, there are lots of things that society now thinks are acceptable that shouldn't be.

Gotta agree with you, PC. I would not allow my 15-year-old to pose like that, and my husband would require that our daughter be completely covered from her chin down to her toes! What dad is comfortable with people viewing their little girl as a sex symbol?

I would say it may be a bit inappropriate for who she is — what audience demographic she represents. Again, poor decision-making. But it's not creepy or offensive.

Hers is definitely more of an artsy/stylish pose than the Jodie Foster pose.

Jody Foster??? Um, yeah, someone was definitely trying to put square peg in a round hole with those photos... Maybe should've put her in overalls and a Peterbuilt truckers cap, a crescent wrench in one hand a a Juggs magazine in the other....

Talk about offensive

Eddie Van Halen kisses his son onstage. No big deal. It's just a show of affection.

Daughters that don't get love and affection from their fathers will often find a father figure and end up pregnant at a young age.

There is a big difference between pedophilia and natural affection. Some families are just more overt with their affection. For example, I would never kiss my son onstage... but I don't fault Eddie for doing it. Likewise, I don't think Billy Ray is getting weird with Miley... I just think he's a southern boy.

I hold the opinion of everyone who thinks this is a press play up.
Not for one second did I believe Billy R.C was sexin up to his daughter
or she to him.
Shame on all parties involved for making it look that way.

Not surprising Miley is posing like this.

Pictures from one of her personal websites have been circling the Web lately. Ones of her in various states of undress or skimpy clothes, also one of her lounging scantily-clad on a young man's lap.

The photo of her and her dad? It was POSED, big deal. We're not talking Walmart with bunnies, $9.99 special here. The photo where she looks semi naked? She shouldn't have been asked.

Disney has sure changed since the days of Annette F...Walt Disney wouldn't even let her wear a bikini that showed her navel.

Don't blame the photog totally...blame the parents for allowing it! Also, at 15, I don't think I'd be undressing in the area of a photographer...I had more sense.

I dont think its particualy bad. The photo itself is quite artistic. Theres much worse going around.

If she wasnt offended at the time, and if the father wasnt offended.. then why should we be?

It's a path most of these young child stars are destined to face, unfortunately, thanks to an industry who places profit far above integrity. Here's the pattern I notice for all the Britney's, Lindsey's, Christina's, Jessica's, and maybe Miley's of the world...

1) Milk the Rated-G crowd for all it's worth with the squeaky clean image, until things start to wane. This may last around 3 years or 2-3 albums.

2) Start flirting with the sexuality and go for the Rated-PG13 crowd for maybe 1 or 2 albums...

3) Go full-on sleaze and squeeze the soul of of your artist, turning them into a full-bore sex object, pole dancer, stripper, whatever, and let them waste themselves away on the nightclub circuit to keep their names in the tabloid headlines. This is where they really get scarred for life.

4) Dump them once they are no longer marketable...

And with all of the types, there is cross-marketing... actors record albums, singers do films, etc, etc. They are nothing but pawns in a big game. Anyway, n-i-i-i-i-c-e, Miley... it's started for you even earlier than I predicted it would.

The one of her with no clothes on is the one that bothers me. If she were 18, it would be her choice to pose or not. At 15, her parents should have said absolutely not. My husband would shove the camera down the throat of anyone who tried to take a picture of our daughter like that.

Actually, I agree. Americans (from my experience) are very narrow-minded when it comes to nudity. The Janet Jackson thing for example- blown WAY out of proportion. All that time and energy wasted on one nasty-ass looking chest.

However, when the girl's being marketed to LITTLE LITTLE kids, and she is, then it doesn't seem right. She's not on Mtv or Vh1. She's on THE DISNEY CHANNEL. Disney, mickey mouse, goofy, etc.

This all started when David Cassidy posed nude on Rolling Stone during the Partridge Family years. That became the model for 'breaking out' of the teeny bop image. Britney did it (disney), Agulera did it (disney), Timberlake did it (disney) and I'm sure that others will too. Somehow, these kids have to make the leap into the adult world of entertainment (as opposed to the adult entertainment world) and I guess that nobody's been able to think of anything better.

If any of us had taken pictures of our kid like this, taken the photos to a local photo shop for processing, the cops'd be beating down our doors for child porn (and rightfully so). The exploitation of kids should be hit with the biggest stick possible. I don't really equate this shot as child porn, but it is provacative, and shot to be just so.

Let's not get carried away, you know it is a harmless photoshoot, and yes I do agree it has been taken way out of context. Billy didn't stick his fingers her ass, and from the comments i've read online. He may as well of from the reactions.
