Hmm. Now WHY would Steve Perry assume such a thing?

I don't know about you all, but I guess by "gets paid like a motherfucker even though he shouldn't be", and "bitches and moans and whines about everything", he MUST mean "Steve is a such great guy!"

Don't take this as some 'loon' jumping up to defend Perry - I'm not - my point is that Neal just defeated his own point, i.e. "I just slammed him twice, but that bastard always just assumes we're slamming him - the nerve!"

This is the only thing I can remember reading or hearing Neal say bad about Perry since the TBF debacle.

I'm giving Steve Perry a huge clap on the back for these belated comments.

Good to hear about Neal's sobriety. For this, I wish him all the success in the world. I really hope tackling hurdle brings him total joy and contentment.

No, not too often, but it happens. He smacked him down last year down over the reissues. That was in the interview about how Journey was moving on in a NEW direction with JEFF and Perry was just jacking around with old stuff.

To be fair, the worst thing I ever heard from He Who Can't Be Named about Journey was they they don't talk much and they don't get along. Whatever venom he's spewing about them, he's keeping it out of interviews.

i love this article it is the best one and most detailed yet--- ranks up there wth Drews bit on herbie... i feel we are getting to the point where journeys past and present might finally mesh and all of the sudden there will be another round of amazing success??? Something in the air or whatever, just a hunch. That 08 might be one crazy summer and fall for this band. i still am mad aout jss but can live with Arnel as long as they keep doing sones like **after all these years!!**

Incidentally...

"Perry, who’s finally started working on his first album of new material since leaving Journey"

...if that ends up being true ( ), me and my BeakSignal are taking total credit.

Aw F***.

What am I supposed to do now?

1. It's impossible to hate Arnel Pineda. Impossible. I like the guy. I like his voice. Hell, I like his hair.

2. Neal Schon has been sober for nine months. I am thrilled for him. I did not even know he had an alcohol problem. Sounds like he has a new lease on life, so to speak. How can you begrudge a guy trying to get himself together?

3. Not mentioning the entire controversy around Steve Augeri was very classy. It was noted that Steve took the brunt of replacing He Who Shall Not Be Named and it was noted that he had throat issues, both of which are true. It was noted that we have been through this before. It was noted that SA and JSS probably felt comfortable. Nothing was whitewashed, IMO. It is also true that SA got hell for being too Perry-ish and Jeff got hell for NOT being Perry-ish.

So now that I'm not going to Minneapolis (with the hotel at $199 a night - too much to pay to hear lectures on ER nursing), I might have to buy a damn ticket to a damn show and buy that damned new CD.

I DON'T WANT TO. I WANT TO HATE JOURNEY AND HATE NEAL AND JON AND EVERYTHING THEY DID TO JEFF AND STEVE (AUGERI) FOREVER!

I don't think it's working.

And then to top it off, He Who Shall Not Be Named But Walks on Water is working on a new solo album?????? WT Freakin' F? Why on God's green earth did we have to be left with THAT at the end of the interview?

I'm no loon, in all seriousness, but that made my stomach jump a wee bit. But, like BJG says, it's an urban legend until it's on my iPod. Wish he'd stop dangling the proverbial carrot until he's ready to produce the crop......sheesh.

Okay, my rant is done.

Now what the hell am I supposed to do?

 [/b]

great read... and great that SP is FINALLY getting of his butt...

I also thought after reading the article that maybe Arnel being successful in Journey may actually make it easier for SP to move on and finally release something... AP clearly does the classics justice live, and so far the new material is great... seems to be good timing all around...

...of course, SP could also simply be getting his own CD ready in order to take advantage of the free publicity he's gonna get when the buzz about this iteration of Journey starts up.

...or it could be a "happy coincidence"....

Very good article....man if this tour kills...watch OUT. :)

My "conversations" with Arnel at PH...

Me...you were fantastic Arnel..

Arnel...Thank you..

Me...NO thank YOU..

Couple hours later as he was leaving that Coffee Shop where I ate 90% of my meals...

WIX..Gina...Me...as Arnel is walking out...."GREAT job Arnel!"

Arnel walks to our table...HUGE grin..."Enjoy Vegas!"
