Would love for "Wildest Dream" and "FITH" to have been included, but am doubtful.

Any Way You Want It
Wheel In The Sky
Lights
After All These Years
Never Walk Away
Open Arms
Mother Father
Wildest Dreams
Separate Ways
Faithfully
Don't Stop Believin'
Be Good To Yourself

Two songs that I'll sorely miss that were in the concert are Deen singing After The Fall and Arnel on Faith In The Heartland. They had to put Open Arms and Faithfully on there though.

I'm sorry, but would Queen get away with a note-by-note rerecord of their classics with a sound-alike singer?

Like the new stuff, but the cover album isn't an "honor" it's an insult.
[/quote]

Queen actually did rerecord "We will rock you" with John Farnham on lead vocals. Its note for note until the extended ending when they bring in extra guitars and John goes all heavy metal on the vocals

Loving this album

Never Walk Away is great - the BG vocals do suffer though, I concur with several opinions I've seen

Like a Sunshower - Not feeling great ab this one - I get a Lights vibe and I hate and have always hated Lights even before I heard it played live at every Journey show and at least half the time they play Jrny on the radio

Change for the Better - Incredibly good rocker, great guitar playing, great chorus hook, great "drive" with a little bit of Who thrown into that synth break down... awesome. Modern yet retro, like Loverboy's Just Getting Started

Wildest Dreams - Gotta disagree with Prog, love that little distorted vocals part. I also love the chaotic ending with the instruments going nuts and the final cackle. The chorus, like Andrew said in his review, did need something more - more tension/resolving or more vocal layers, but an excellent prog-oriented song that kinda hearkens back to Frontiers

FITH - Don't like. Arnel's vocals are passionless on this one and I suspect I'm not going to like the re-records either. I'm no Perry loon, certainly didn't mind hearing Augeri sing the classics live at all (enjoyed it in fact) but Arnel shines when hes being Arnel. He was trying to channel Augeri too much here.

AATY - Good ballad, not the best on the album. Shouldn't have been the single. Nowhere near the quality of Beyond The Clouds, When You Love a Woman, All The Way, or When I Think Of You for me in the recent Jrny ballad canon

Where Did I Lose Your Love - Deen is the man, this track is great.

What I Needed - I know a lot of people are loving this one, but probably not my favorite. Decent song

What It Takes To Win - Makes me want to fireman's carry a log and pull my wife and fat coach through the snow in Siberia. Love it

Turn Down The World Tonight - The ballad of the last 20 years for Journey. Neal is amazing, Arnel sounds great, Cain plays tastefully, the harmonies are classic big, and it's catchy and not too sappy lyrically. THIS should have been the lead-off single if we were going with a ballad.

The Journey - If you want to include instrumentals, bring back Rolie. Would have rather had Neal's live star spangled banner captured to tape here or something.

All in all a great album and I suspect some of the weaker tracks are going to get a lot better for me once I have the CD quality audio on my hands... going off a subpar torrent right now...

Totally agree. This song could be the best on the entire album.
It may even be better than 'Why Can't This Night Go On Forever'.
Don't know about lead single, but Azoff has to find a way to get it out there on it's own.
It's truly a gem.

Definitely better than Why Can't This Night, at least for me... I'll Be Alright Without You was the quintessential ballad from RoR for me. Still one of my favorite Journey songs... that outro with Neal and Steve... whew. But Turn Down The World Tonight is really great... really moving in a pretty authentic way. Great stuff, and I definitely prefer the rockers in general... but damn.

What's everyone think of "Revelation" (those of you who, like me, have heard it).

Well, I think it's interesting that some Christians think such and such in Revelation means the book is coming true and the end of days is on such and such a date...even though Jesus said that nobody knows the date.

Well, except for all of those other religious prophecies which predict 2012 as some special. Maybe 12/21/2012 is the date Journey finalycomes to an end.

Interesting perspective. I've listened to that song 1000 times and never classified it as a "ballad". It's actually a very up-tempo track. I'm looking forward to listening to "Turn Down The World Tonight", because I've always believed that WCTNGOF was a VERY underrated track.

Yeah I don't count IBAWY as a ballad either.

I like it too much, it CAN'T be a ballad. ;)

Here's something I noted while watching the DVD last night, and it was the same thing I noticed when in the 2001 DVD w/Augeri -- both new singers shined the most on the songs they recorded with the band. They were both great for everything, but there was just something extra, and more personal in their performing of their own songs. You can especially see it in Arnel during "After All These Years".

Listened to almost the entire album today on the way to work. Need to finish it and perhaps listen again to be sure, but I don't exactly hate it. :? DID I JUST SAY THAT????

It is pretty good in parts and I'm back to liking "Where Did I Loose Your Love". I positively hate "Sunshower" though, and I wasn't very taken with it to begin with (oh, and I really hate "After All These Years", too :::yawn::: ). "Faith In The Heartland"... What was the freakin' point??? Just like the GH re-records... They didn't make them any better either. Just a way to kick a couple of former vocalists in the balls, is my guess. Oh, and yes, I do believe that these were many of the same songs that they were planning on using on the next album with Augeri. I can *so* here Steve singing many of these... :P Well, except for "Sunshower".

They most certainly recorded the vocals in stages/pieces, because there is no way that Arnel could have corrected his accent *that* well. I still hear it in many places, but nowhere near how bad it is live. He better work on that really hard, if they want to hold onto any fans that they draw in with this album. It's only so long that the accent will be forgiven live. I, myself, have no intention of seeing them live, but I may give the album a few more spins and live with it for a while before deciding if it should be shelved (purged) or not.

I definitely want to see/hear the other disks in the set, too. Although, I don't believe that I'd want to repeat them.

Seriously, how could anyone bitch? Perry's getting paid, Augeri's getting paid and Hunsicker's getting paid on this album. Every singer since the late 70's is getting paid and one that didn't sing!!! Seems fair to me.

maybe the guy who did the Asia Fantasia Live in Tokyo dvd should have taken some lessons from this guy cause that Asia 5.1 mix is awful.

I was speaking about "Generations." Listened to the entire thing in a friend's car and wasn't excited by it. Didn't feel the need to buy it at the time. Never got around to getting it in any form. :::shrug:::

I think he or she is implying they improperly used Augeri's VOICE somewhere in the song, too, which I doubt.
