Tour Date - BC in October - yay!

Postby Triple S » Sun Jul 06, 2008 7:56 am

OMG how did I miss this? (probably because I never visit the official site  )

Shows scheduled for BC Oct 10 & 11 - I guess they are allowed into Canada after all! This is definitely do-able for us, about a 4-5 hour drive, on a weekend - again, yay! Finally!!! Doesn't look like tickets are available yet but prices for other shows look reasonable (it's a casino). We are so there!!!

A Calgary date would be nice, I'd much rather make the trip there than to Coquitlam (I'd have lots of accomodation choices in Calgary  ). Not complaining - this is the closest they've been to where I am in - like, forever!

If they don't have a show right here, I might be going to the saturday BC one. A friend from Victoria wants to go and I told her I might/possibly/maybe/not-for-sure come down.

Hmm you may not want Journey to come to Calgary (Or Edmonton) if the promoter for the BC show is the same for the Alberta ones.

Styx played a show at that venue in BC this past March, and when they booked Calgary and Edmonton, they played in smaller clubs (both shows packed - more $$$ for them I guess) so lets hope that if they do decide to book Alberta way, they play somewhere else in Calgay.

I am unfamiliar with the Calgary venues, but there are at least 4-5 places in Edmonton for them to play:

Shaw Conference
Edmonton Events Center (Formally Reds)
The Venue - River Cree Resort and Casino
Agricom
Jubillee Auditorium
Winspear Center

All of these venues are between 1000-6000 seaters.

Hell, if they decided to tour wiht Heart and Cheap Trick, I'm sure they could even play Rexall's Concert Bowl (7000 or so)!

Awesome! - hope you can make it. I'll probably do the Saturday show also. Unfortunately (I guess  ) my husband can't go - he's waiting for a back surgery date which will likely be in the fall so we don't want to take a chance and buy him a ticket if he can't go :( . Too bad - he really loves Heart. But I think I've convinced a couple of co-workers to join me.

Crap - looks like they've taken Coquitlam off the schedule. Sounds like they're trying for a bigger venue though (GM Place maybe?)

I don't even think the album even charted in Canada.. I know wal mart still has it in their top 20, but I don't even think its sold 20 000 copies here.

Anyone have Cdn soundscan numbers?

Prospera Place (Kelowna) maybe??? Not sure they'd fill the Saddledome or GM Place. Geez - that Coquitlam place only seats 1100 or something lke that - thought it was kinda small - no wonder they bailed.

We have a few mid-size venues too. I think you're right though, Saddledome and GM are definitely to big. I think they'd play Calgary or Vancouver before Kelowna. Wow a thread of Western Canadians....cool! :)

I don't know - Kelowna's had some pretty big acts in recent times. Heck - Alice Cooper even played here in Salmon Arm (OK yanks, proceed with the jokes about the name of my town  ) a couple of years ago.

Hey, my daughter's houseboating out your way there this week. :)

Lucky girl! Funny how I could afford to do that when I lived in Alberta - now that I live here - no way!
