What do you (some people here in general...not specifically you, Deb) get out of making him into a superstar and using him in the same breath as Perry, Gramm, Mercury and others when he clearly hasn't earned the right to be in that company? I think we're much closer to the truth than those people and sometimes the truth hurts...but it's still the truth. There was never a problem here until people felt the need to make ridiculous comparisons that were actually unfair to Soto himself. If you played "word association" with music insiders and experts and said Perry, Gramm and Mercury I would bet my entire net worth that "Soto" would not be the next name mentioned...or the 50th for that matter.

You dont hate Soto ,Dan. You hate Soto's fans. You hate the fact that there are people here mentioning his name in the same breath as mentioning Perry or Mercurys name or Manilow for that matter  ..... Why does it bother you so much when some people enjoy Jeff's music without having to worry about his exposure and units moved? Why cant you just ignore the fact that , yes we're blind/deaf and dont see the light, but maybe we rather enjoy the music we hear Jeff sing without having to worry about how many others buy his cd?

There are millions of people out there that would say singer X or Singer Y is better than Perry. Are you gonna start going all over the forums and message boards to set the record straight to everyone who doesnt agree with you ?

And for the last time, no one here is upset as far as WHY Journey made the move they did. It is and it will always be about THE WAY the handled it. So you bragging about double platinum has no plus or minus on the way the fired Jeff.

Family Secrets. That's how the "family" works, they keep secrets and trust only their inner circle. They don't like leaks either. They'll "take care of them" if someone leaks too.

BTW, it's Cain! He lets you live.

Maybe someone should tell Neal...

I'm curious what the difference would be between an Journey album fronted by Soto and a Soul Sirkus album. Is Cain the missing ingredient? Has he now become the most integral part of the Journey sound?

Ya but Dan, who are you to tell me I can't breath the words Soto or Martin in the same breath as Perry? If I enjoy their voices as much, what is it to you? Seriously Dan, you can keep your "truth" and your "stats", I choose my music by my ears, not by reading the charts or what's popular.

Speak for yourself  . Like I told others before I started posting, the first time I saw Journey with Soto (July '06) I thought it was good because it was different from the past 7 or 8 years. I thought they were on par or even better than Leppard that night. The second time I saw them (Oct. '06) with Soto, it was NOT the same. Unlike the first time which was different so it was cool, this night it became clear this was not going to work and last. It was not bad per se but it wasn't Journey. That night's decision was unanimously in favor of DL and I'm not that big of fan of theirs.

Depending on how good the Soto fronted Journey CD would've been, would've determined if I would've continued to go to the shows. In fairness same thing with Arnel. I would've tried it once regardless of the CD, but going forward the quality of new music and shows would've determined if I would've kept coming back.

Listen away, dude!!! I just point out sales figures because it's a telling number as far as interest and popularity goes. People just don't seem particularly moved by his music and the numbers reflect that, both in concert and album sales. This is true, at the very least, in the U.S.

Behshad wrote:There are millions of people out there that would say singer X or Singer Y is better than Perry. Are you gonna start going all over the forums and message boards to set the record straight to everyone who doesnt agree with you ?

Nope. That is totally something you would do, though!!! Kind of like the PMs to everyone to vote for Soto or any of the other laughable antics people have laughed at you behind your back about via PMs to me.

Behshad wrote:And for the last time, no one here is upset as far as WHY Journey made the move they did. It is and it will always be about THE WAY the handled it. So you bragging about double platinum has no plus or minus on the way the fired Jeff.

And it's laughable that you care so much about a guy that claimed to really not even know you other than a few one minute encounters over a 20 year period. You guys act like Journey stabbed your sister or something. Admit it, you're a fawning, enamored fan that basically is like a star struck little puppy because you think you know the guy.

1st of.,,,,,Learn how to quote ..your post looks as fucked up as your reasoning is.

Also... you keep bringing up the same shit about the record sales. I clearly stated above that , we as Soto fans, are totally lost and dont have a clue what is good and not,, on a chart,,,,, but why does it bother YOU so much??

I am not bragging about anything more than the fact that I am and have been a proud JSS fan since 1989. I attented my 1st show when I was 17 and I have been a true fan since then. If its laughable to you , then laugh away. You think its laughable that I care about Jeffs music ,but he barely knows me, then I guess you have all reasons to cheer for Neal and Frigga as they call you on a daily basis and thank you for all your hard work and support..... I dont have to prove nothing to you about Jeff's friendship to me or any of his fans.
Jeff consider his fans his friends too,, and thats no new to people here. So , now youre the spokesman for Jeff , telling the rest of us, what he claims in regards to his long time fans? Now that is not only laughable, but shows your true obsession with Jeff and his fans.

Also, most people in the family have nicknames. Remember Jon "Magic Fingers" Cain. Steve "Machine Gun" Smith. Rumor has it, Cain's is now just shortened to "Fingers." BTW, "Fingers" is not because of the piano playing either. Rumor has it once, someone pissed him off and he smashed their fingers in the piano. Slammed the top down right on them. Ouch. And that was only a warning. Why do you think their song was chosen for the Sopranos finale? Think about it.

They handled it the way they did because of LAWSUITS! Even if the suit was not filed at the time, they probably knew there was a chance of a lawsuit (a correct assumption in hindsight) so they stay quiet. You don't talk or go into detail with someone who is going to sue you. That applies to Journey or any business or any part of life. That's why they did it the way they did it. You guys blew your stack for no reason.

Woah, let's not allow the bullshit to froth over the edge of the pot here....you're implying that Neal's claim of JSS suing Journey actually happened....let's not give any validity to such a rediculous concept until it can be verified by someone other than Neal "not known for his veracity" Schon. Until then, it's nothing but Neal backpedalling and engaging in territorial pissings, nothing more nothing less.

Hey Jeff, I'll help manage and promote you in the USA. Heck I'll even do it for free. All I ask in return is to crash on the tour bus, and to be a special guest bass player on a song of my choice every night. 8)

I never thought he was the right fit for Journey, but he's a tough guy not to like. Hell, I never heard of the guy before the Journey gig. Because I think the guy has such a good attitude about life, I purchased some of his solo material!

I agree with this as well. The problem has never been Jeff. It's sort of like Augeri's nauseating fans. Augeri was always a good dude, but his fans made me want to hurl! They were all sooooooo out of touch with reality that they made Augeri look bad. Sometimes you just have to separate the man from his fans. Let us not lose sight of the fact that fan is short for "fanatic"! Obviously, it's a most apropos word, to describe the behavior of some of Augeri's and Soto's followers. It doesn't make any of them bad people...It just means that they're blinded by the light!

I can't believe nobody has picked up on this sentence!
When JSS was fired, the word that he had been fired was posted up on the net by various musicians who had been told - but it was before JSS knew. Links to their blogs etc were posted up for us to see.
The band photo featuring JSS was altered as we looked at the Journey site. His image was erased bit by bit. We saw it happen.
We all read this info and we all saw the photo. That wasn't gossip from board members pretending to be 'in the know' it was from people in the biz who knew and worked with JSS, Journey and their Management posting up what had happened while JSS was in Europe.

We knew before JSS did. I call that sneaky.

If you think that is handling things wonderfully then...............I give up.

It does not matter if JSS sells a million units week. Or none.
How many units did Arnel sell before he got the job?
It is about courtesy, and respect for another person's feelings. None were given.
And the main culprit for mentioning JSS's name in the same sentence as Mercury, Perry etc is you!
But why that is even a problem, again.............I give up.

Apparently I've got the same sources you do - the ones who said he was backstabbed. I never claimed to be on the inside, all I was commenting on was common sense legal matters.

Very possible. Or maybe just a precaution. I wasn't there so I don't know.
