So Valory would, in your case, Dan, step off the tourbus at a rest stop, the door would close behind him and they would drive off down the road, likely stopping a few miles down the road to a pre-arranged place to pick up Jack Blades or someone like him...

...with ross running after the bus going WTF!

   That visual was hilarious...and probably has Ross shitting himself right now!!!

Could someone toss Ross his meds, or do those stay on the bus?

First out the door would be Deen the drummer although I think his mother writes great post, I just gotta let him go cause of the hair

Next would be Ross cause I'd like to see someone else up there for a while and the facial grimaces give me the shudders

I'd keep Jon cause he has a kickin body but he should watch out cause the tears make him appear a bit weak and not sensitive like they should have made him

Neal, I'd keep although he's just an awful human being but he is the current most identifiable member of the band

and, I really enjoy Arnel cause he's darn cute and has a great voice

Which was about nine years before you stopped shitting your diapers. 1981 was a while ago, that's quite the tenure. And say what you will about Cain and whether you agree or disagree with how he's "handled" himself, he's a major facet to the band. Where would we be without his input and contributions. Gregg chose to walk away. Cain chose to stay (stay = through all the turmoil, drama, and other bullshit). And for that he deserves some credit. Proggletits.

For numerous reasons that have been discussed multiple times.

Wonder who SteveW2 is going to vote for??

If Friga and Fro are feeling charitable, they could arrange the drop off at a time when Ross has just taken his meds...this way, he's got a few hours to refill the prescription somewhere....but knowing Friga and Fro, I suspect they'll do it just before!

Neal is irreplaceable.
Ross, he's put his life into this band.
Jon stays, he's as much Journey as Neal and Ross are.
Arnel, I just adore the batshit out of the dude.

Funny, Deen and Neal would be the only 2 I wouldn't replace in my "dream Journey" band. If Perry isn't coming back, I would replace Cain with Rollie, Arnel with JSS, and Ross with either Mendoza or Rudy Sarzo (just cuz I adore him as a bassist  ). Dang, would I like to see what came out of something like that! :) Ya I know, I'm awake now.

Good points Rhi, but I think he's still the best choice to be dumped. ;)

Interesting that we're 10 votes into this tribal council and Arnel Pineda has YET to receive a SINGLE vote.

I wonder if Neal is scanning this thread closely, using it to advise his next personnel move in Journey....

LOL. I found that interesting too...Arnel is currently not on the block, but Friga and Fro lead the vote tally, almost neck and neck.

We might have to make those two fuckers pick a rock in a few more hours...

Wouldn't that be something. Neal and Frig's fates in Journey decided by purple and yellow pebbles.

We could throw that shit on a PPV to benefit MelodicRock, so many would tune in just to see one of those two get their walking papers.

How ironic would it be, if Frig or Neal were to leave Journey for whatever reason..... or both... and suddenly Perry would get the itch to sing for Journey again?

Fuck that, I want to see Friga and Fro eat squirming worms and bugs, stand on a pole for 12 hours and fighting on some shithole beach over a piece of rotting fish...

...that would be so fucking awesome.

I think a better suvivor type game is list all the members past and present and have that poll.

Ross goes. His physical appearance portrays him as a follower of Gothic Rock and his walking dead persona is a real downer. I know he seems like a funny guy but so does the Crypt Keeper. Adios Valero.

 Too easy. Perry and Schon would be the last 2 standing. Without at least one and/or the other, it just isn't even "Journey".

I voted off Valory because I've been wanting Blades to be on Bass in J for 20 years. Writing, vocals....would be a great add.

We played this game back before Augeri was canned.
I think most people we're in agreement that Augeri or Ross were expendable.
Ross's biggest contribution, aside from being the bass player, is being an original member, and therefore helping to legitimize this band's usage of the name Journey.
At this point however, I will say Arnel.
As great as he is, nobody aping Perry can ever be called irreplaceable.
Their entire spot in the band is predicated on having replaced someone else.

With that settled, do you want to start a "Fuck, Marry, or Kill" thread or should I?

Still like the idea of a six-piece with Perry & Rolie back. However, I'd take Chalfant if Perry stills says no.

Twinkle toes Friga must be the one. I think a harder edged Journey still survives with out him. Now if Rolie were to show up on the scene.......... 8)

See ya Ross. No offense, but he brings very little to the game other than being an original. He could be replaced and the sound/feel of the band would not be changed to any degree. Second would be Arnel. They'd just get on YouTube to find his replacement.

The trusty old falsehood about the Rolie era being the heaviest one. Aren't you confusing 'hard-edged' with 'bluesy'?

As much as I love Rolie I have to agree with this.

Even though some of the pre-Perry stuff, DID get rather hard (see: Kohoutek, Of a Lifetime especially)

I voted for Friga aka Jon Fingers Cain!! Yes, he's been a MAJOR player,
but all of his best work is behind him!!
They need a FRESH BLOOD in the songwriting dept. and they need someone
with a little stage presence!!!
I want to shout BRING ROLIE BACK.....but
then I'd have to get rid of AP for SP and Deen for Smitty........ 8)

Some of the sappiest stuff Journey has done was with GR. Not that it was bad, but I'd hardly call it 'harder edged'.

LYRICALLY, Journey has always had a problem with being a little too mundane or schmaltzy..

MUSICALLY, however... the Rolie era seems a little more "down to earth" than the Cain era.

There's a sincerity and earnestness there that simply doesn't exist once Cain climbs aboard.
Whether it's real or imagined, I am not certain.

Before I leave, a couple of comments.

Soto
Mendoza
Deen
Schon
was original Soul Sirkus. So it wouldn't have been good. Rolie wouldn't have helped that much.
