Arnel on SB (plokplok) chat 11Aug08: Ann Wilson duet, etc

Postby wednesday's child » Mon Aug 11, 2008 6:54 pm

CHAT TRANSCRIPT (AP's website, plokplok chat, 11Aug08)
You know the drill: I've had to move some entries around, so that Arnel's responses
would match up with the pertinent questions/statements. Hopefully, that's gone
well.

wow...all of his comments really take the "mystique" out of being the lead singer for the best melodic rock group of all time. If I were his manager I'd say lay off this kind of stuff, only do it a couple of times a year. Very weird....

You want "mystique" go to Egypt and stick a pyramid up your ass. I see a somewhat lonely guy that pops in to say hello to people that he calls friends. Remember, his culture is vastly different than ours. He's not enamored by and has no desire to be a "rock star." He doesn't need his ego stroked. Seems to me like he's trying to make his "journey" as much of a learning experience as possible and has no problem making a few friends along the way. While there are potential perils associated with engaging with the fans I think he's doing pretty much everything right so far. God bless him.

Hey, "Almost Paradise" would be a duet that Arnel and Ann could sing--Mike Reno from Loverboy did the original with Ann-

Although I wouldn't say it as harsh, I do kind of agree with this. Pull back on the chats.

Also, about him being 1/4 of Ann Wilson: He ain't lying, if he's talking about size.

To each his own, Tex :)
Arnel will aways be a working-man's rock singer.
He will always be openly grateful to others for whatever he has.

I'm NOT an Arnel Pineda fan, not in the sense of some cultus.
I do admire the heck out of his vocal ability, his attitude, and what he brings to Journey.
I dig Journey's music, and whether the vocalist is a chatty Arnel, a reclusive cat-tickling Perry,
a courageous Augeri, a rugged Jeff, or a one-of-us Jeremey, whatever it is that goes into
making good Journey music, onstage or recorded, is MORE than good enough for me.

Tito, fuck off.

:)

I think there has been enough 'mystique' around the various members of this band for too many years. Kudos to AP for being apparently a normal guy, who likes to interact with people and not hold himself up to some unspoken, bullshit pedestal that people that don't know him want to put him on. He seems like a normal guy living a dream. Good for him and his family.

texafana, dear:

I believe there is absolutely nothing wrong with Arnel's being himself on-stage, off-stage, on-air, online, offline....etc! To me, that is most welcome! As a matter of fact, how I wish all of my friends, family, and other people that I know and respect---have that kind of attitude! Personally, I believe what you're suggesting is not "Change for the Better" at all! ... P-E-A-C-E!

i couldn't have said it any better saint john... ap has met many many new friends/ fans since his tenure with bands in the 80's to the present...interacting with his family and fans is what gives him the desire to succeed.
