Favorite musical duels/duets/battles?

Not sure what they're technically called. Got this idea from Dave's favorite guitar solos thread. I love instrument duels more than solos........whether they be bass/guitar, vocals/bass, vocals/guitar. What are some of your favorites off the top of your head?

"Dueling Banjos", originally composed by Arthur Smith and Don Reno as Feuding Banjos in 1955, was made famous in a scene from the 1972 movie Deliverance. The scene depicts Billy Redden playing the piece opposite actor Ronny Cox on guitar. Redden plays "Lonnie"—a mentally retarded, inbred, extremely gifted banjo player.

It's still used a lot for effect on TV sit.coms.

Dueling Banjo’s from the movie Deliverance. Many well renowned actors in this 36-year-old movie.
Rich was known for his “candid” remarks when he had too much to drink. Drum sets of that era were minimal with talent surpassing most of today’s percussionists.

I often laugh when someone says Portnoy is better than Peart. I mean, c'mon....

If doublebass fills were banned from solos, he'd be lost....lol

and I've heard some people mention Terry Bozzio, from Zappa's band....again, c'mon.

I put Steve Smith and Neil Peart about the same on my list, although I do prefer Steve's style more. Both have gone on record saying Buddy Rich is easily the greatest that has ever lived, which I do tend to agree with. When I first got into drumming, my dad (also a drummer) had me listen to his old record of Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich.......AMAZING STUFF!

I have over the course of my life heard so many accolades about Buddy Rich, yet sadly the only 'popular' media by which most people have seen him is The Muppet Show.

Not quite sure what that says exactly.

But I much prefer Portnoy and Peart over Smith...not that Smitty is chopped liver by any stretch.
