Yeah, it would be so much better as a spinoff of "The View." Gee, let's talk about cupcakes, coffee and the weirdo I saw in fucking McDonalds this past weekend. Or better yet, there are 6,000 members here...whose birthday is it today?Let's start a Birthday thread (Wyatt and Trevor's thread excluded. That thread was very warranted.). While we're at it why don't we invite Richard Simmons and Little Richard to come here and gay the place up a bit more.

Well, cupcakes are kinda yummy :P

Dammit, Lynn...you're not helping me!!!

Why should she help? You're hitting below the belt. I don't know how I, or the rest of the women here, got on your bad side suddenly, but jesus. I get along with everyone, always have, I debate respectfully, and I have fun. And I hate The fucking View.

I was kidding and I think Lynn knows that. Anyway, the "estrogen crew" is comprised of 2 people. I think you can figure it out. And the reason I posted that is because people were tired of threads being hijacked and ruined and were beginning to leave. And others that didn't leave were complaining in private. I'm just letting you know...nothing more. I love everyone. To prove it I'll give you a big kiss in Ohio.

You don't have a dog and bark yourself. So, yes Management should do that stuff on a band's behalf.
BUT when Managers get paid such a huge wad of the band's money, you'd think they'd tell the person getting fired before they told anyone else.
Discretion is key.

What are the details of Journey's contract with Azoff Management?
How do you know what the band should and shouldn't do? Or, what they can and can't do?
How do you know what AM gets paid?
How do you know who AM told what to anyone else?

Absolutely. If appreciation threads are a "no go" then why should we have the place cluttered up with birthday threads? Again, special circumstances notwithstanding.

Not to get too involved here, but you all really need to understand, it is MANAGEMENT'S job to terminate band members. The band doesn't get involved in that sort of thing, that's one of the reasons why they have managers. Read Don Felder's book about The Eagles and how Azoff terminated that founding band member over the telephone. Substitute John Baruck for Irving Azoff and JSS for Don Felder, and you'll probably have close to the same situation. It's the way things are done. Not that anything Journey has done involving past band members has been free from controversy, but there is some precedent that this situation was handled in a pretty routine fashion.

We don't know unless we read the contract.

What they can and can't do will be in the contract.
But managers get paid by bands to work for them - commission we call it in the UK. They don't work for nothing, obviously. No idea how much, but it's usually a percentage.
But the 'news' of JSS's sacking was posted on the internet before he was told. He personally confirmed that. Some of us read the leaked information on the net at the time it happened. Confirmation came later.

I'm sure at most jobs if you know someone's going to be axed you still keep your mouth shut. That's H.R. or managements job. I f I let a subordinate go, I am not allowed to advise the employee of my decision unless H.R. allows it. This has a lot to do with not saying the wrong thing and becoming culpable for unemployment benefits or wrongful termination lawsuits. Sometimes informing the employee on your own can lead to disciplinary action against yourself. At least this is how it has been at the companies I have worked for.

We all know that this has been done before but that doesn't make it any more palatable. In my opinion, one of the guys in the band SHOULD have broken the news to Jeff, regardless of if that's the way it should have been or not. The way things should be done doesn't change regardless of if it's considered morally acceptable at the time or not.

If all of that is the case then fine. Anyone is free to run to Andrew with whatever they don't like around here, and I know they do. There's plenty of material posted around here that's lame, off-topic, plenty of shit I roll my eyes at, and instead of calling people out on it (and calling them names), I avoid the threads I'm not interested in, or I lose interest once it goes off into something else, when happens around here constantly and it isn't just two people doing it.

I'm not gonna be held responsible for people leaving anything. I don't make choices for people. I read a complaint (not here) about all the off-topic threads here in the MR Journey board... and I know that's not me because I rarely even start topics. Nothing and no one ever seems to stay on-topic around here.

And if you kiss me in Ohio, I'm calling the police, that is, unless you unclench and make nice.

If we throw out all the OT threads, around 45, and all the redundant threads, around 15, we'll be left with 15 threads on this page. Then we'll look like like all the spinoff sites. Is that what everybody wants? Should we have a poll? :D

I love the way threads go way off topic and that we often have sections within threads where one group are posting about something and another group are posting about something else.

It's one of the things which make this place fun.

I have been random and asinine here since day one.

The recent slack in activity here has made my bullshit more prominent. Well, yes, I've seen a comment or two lurking around, but I pay it no mind. However, if my harmless commentary that concerns no one (not even myself) is so abject and detrimental to anyone's internet enjoyment, I implore you to just ignore me! I just say whatever is on my mind. No matter how ignorant or pointless it is. Sometimes, every so often, it'll make people laugh or smile. And that makes it worth doing to me.

Until then... we're all who we are... in whatever way we contribute. I am who I am, heart it or leave it. :)

OT threads are apparently a problem also, as I saw specific complaint about that voiced elsewhere. HOWEVER, point taken and alphabetized into 'gripe list'.

To show that I *AM* a team player, I will RE-rail this thread back to Arnel and the article.

Basically, all of those articles are the same and have become kind of a blur, because there's nothing new or different to say about Arnel, and there's certainly nothing poor to say about him. The difference is that now they're (meaning the band members interviewed) coming out with mentions and comments of Steve A. and Jeff, where they'd more or less avoided specific comments until now.

Part of me thinks that now that the album and tour have done decently, they feel justified in speaking (what can be construed as) negatively. I could be off, but it's noticable how they went from literally no mention of Augeri and very little mention of his replacement to suddenly giving reasons why neither of them stuck around.

Drama drama. But, it wouldn't be Journey without it.

Let's just call it for what it is, okay? The problem is that it's women doing it and other women are finding it funny, so the tone of the place isn't straight junior high locker room anymore.

T&A avatars out the wazoo, including video and downright pornographic images are fine...

Attacking women fans over their body size rather than the quality of their intellectual argument is fine, and endless Wiggler buffet and doughnut jokes are all groovy ...

Tiresome rants about the size of JSS's fan base are okey dokey ...

Tons of off-topic threads about everthing from alien abductions to the most obscure bands on the planet are great ...

Political bait wars about U.S. politics are fabulous ...

1000 gay jokes a day are all still funny ...

But these unwarranted thread hijacks and celebration of forum members' special occassions have to stop.

Okay, I get it.

Let me get this straight. Journey gives interviews all over the world to promote themselves, yet they won't give Andrew an interview here at MR .... where their long-time, diehard fans ... who have spent hundreds, may thousands of dollars, over the years on them congregate. Loyalty goes both ways. I think we know where theirs lie.

And, SJ, why the constant need to crypt and chase people's posts to defend Journey's position? Fans want to vent, they have the right ... after spending hundreds ... thousands of dollars on this band. Could it be you are after the same thing (band recognition/favors, backstage passes, etc.) that you have accused others of doing with JSS? We all know the band supposedly comes onto this board and reads these pages.

Other than that, I love everyone, too. 8)

For all the Journey bashers, I want personal, specific incidents where they screwed you. No heresay, no they did this to so and so. I want what they did wrong to you personally, that makes them these villians. Lets hear'em.

OT threads are fine. It's the "on topic" threads that get derailed into OT threads that I think is bothering people.

Who derailed this thread?.....just when it was getting good!!! :P
