I has nothing to do with something they did to anyone personally. People form opinions of public figures all the time. It is rarely, if ever, based on personal interaction.

I think Pamela Anderson is skanky. Nothing she has ever done to me personally. Just an opinion I have formed from things I've read about her.

Better yet, I'd like to hear what JSS has done to personally screw you over? :? I may pimp my favorite vocalists (I'm my own little street team  ) but I've never bagged on Arnel to do it....nor would I...all the power to him. I just don't get it. :?

I don't see why the gender card is being played here. I used the example of "The View" because the 2 "thread ninjas" are female. Had they been male I would have used "Men On Film" from In Living Color as the example.

DrFU wrote:T&A avatars out the wazoo, including video and downright pornographic images are fine...

Can't think of a time where I posted any pictures in my 2 years here. And I understand you're not talking to me exclusively.

DrFU wrote:Attacking women fans over their body size rather than the quality of their intellectual argument is fine, and endless Wiggler buffet and doughnut jokes are all groovy ...

Point taken. Advantage Fu Fu.

DrFU wrote:Tiresome rants about the size of JSS's fan base are okey dokey ...

They're far more intelligent and factual than making the guy into something he clearly isn't. I used facts to debunk some pretty ridiculous assertions. Nothing more.

DrFU wrote:Tons of off-topic threads about everthing from alien abductions to the most obscure bands on the planet are great ...

No one said that OT threads are a big problem. It's threads that are going along smoothly that are suddenly sidetracked that are the problem. Additionally, the people doing it pat themselves on the back. I'm just telling you it's driving people away and this is something that has recently spread into almost every thread. People just don't see the reason for it. I'm speaking for myself as well as others. Some of whom have already left.

DrFU wrote:Political bait wars about U.S. politics are fabulous ...

Those threads do stay on topic, though!!!

DrFU wrote:But these unwarranted thread hijacks and celebration of forum members' special occassions have to stop.
The thread hijacks need to stop. Perhaps a single birthday thread for everyone would be in order. Unless it is special as was the case with the children spoken of last week. 6,000 members here, Fu Fu. Shall we have approximately 15 birthday threads per day? Besides, I don't know about you but birthdays are pretty depressing for me these days!!! Anyone starts a birthday thread for me and they're getting their ass kicked.

St. John I will defend you just a bit. I do understand what you are saying about the hijacks and the personal talk among people that most people have no clue about. I'm not going to say it's right or wrong but I know that it does happen and it does alienate people and makes them not want to participate. I know this because I was accused of being like this in another forum. And it was true. Unfortunately it does happen. People get together, form friendships and post such things which appears to outsiders as 'cliquish'. I'm not sure that it can be changed.

I can agree about the hijacks as well. Maybe everybody (because I certainly don't think only 2 people are mainly responsible for them) needs to make an effort to keep things on topic.

I do also agree with Linda though. There sure seems to be an 'old boys club' mentality here. There is a double standard. Men can do things and nothing is said. IE.....discuss any number of thing such as porn, post bouncing boobs avatars, or cheerleader butts.....and it's OK. But the minute women do the same things we get the old "sex starved middle aged housewife" comments.

Very true... but the direct effect it has on whomever is out there is ultimately up to themselves. I don't like political threads... I think they're about as redundant as anything sometimes... especially being the same old arguments over and again. But I just don't even notice them. People can be way hyper-sensitive in these forums and that is really the only problem. If I and someone else choose to say "Bob's your uncle." and post a picture of a Lolcat out of the clear blue and you have an unyielding distaste for Bobs, uncles, and cats, and can't stand the fact that it's not on topic with the conversation at hand (which could possibly be about how ziploc bags cause amoebic dysentery or how a two-year old lit fire to a barn and Al Gore called it greenhouse gas)... then ignore it is my point. BJG and I have no problem with anybody. I ignore a lot of stuff, everyone here ignores stuff I'd presume. Pointless stuff. Not worth worrying about.

I can agree about the hijacks as well. Maybe everybody (because I certainly don't think only 2 people are mainly responsible for them) needs to make an effort to keep things on topic.

Hey now...I've never once made a deragatory comment on anyone's posts or av (except maybe in the political threads)... :)

Also, I tried to change my av a few times. My PM box overflowed requests to change it back, and about 1/3 of the requests were from the women. So, I'm just keeping everyone happy... ;)

Additionally... its Andrew's site.. if he had a problem with ANYthing I've ever said or ANY manner in which I've ever posted he can message me and tell me to shut up. I'm still not taking responsibility for people leaving. Anyone with an account is free to post within Andrew's rules or to choose not to post.

As to being cliquish... she's right... happens. All the time... maybe it bleeds into the board, and maybe too much, but it's not fair to pin it on 2 people. 6000 members... and 2 people are responsible? I doubt we have anywhere near that much power. Its JUST a message board, I mean come on.

But you know, its better than hate and fighting and vulgar disgusting name calling.
At least it shows people getting along and having a good time.

All the threads about Vegas and Dallas... or any of the other trips (south bend excluded being that was an MR event) out of 6000 people... 15-30 people involved in a given trip... inside jokes about Vegas are all over the place, not just the Vegas thread... those who weren't there don't "get" it, or weren't in the 'clique'. Did anyone gripe about it? No. And those who were there would have said shut up, or go on the next trip then if you don't like it. No one would have said "Oh, ok we'll stop then."

1) Arnel was the right decision. Look at what Journey has done this summer with the attendance numbers and the CD numbers. I really loved JSS as their frontman....but you have to admit Journey made the right move.

2) It wasn't just a few die hard Sotoheads that loved JSS with Journey. I am not much of a fan of his work outside the band, and didn't even dig Soul Sirkus much, but he was absolutely brilliant on some songs with Journey...just brilliant. Take the 2 new songs to the set list; Dead or Alive and La Do Da......JSS fucking NAILED those. He did an incredible version of LTS. He nearly outperryed Perry on Keep on Runnin' and I'll be Alright without you. His energy was absolutely amazing. Arnel was the right decision, but MUSIC wise, Soto wouldn't have been a bad decision as far as live shows go. He didn't sound quite right on a few of the "hits" like Only the Young and Be Good To Yourself. I guess they felt that way about new tunes they were working on too?

3) I don't lend total credence to the accolades that Schon gives Arnel...I have to be honest. If you read all the comments he made about JSS, they do sound very similar. Just read the interviews Andrew did. I mean..they were re-energized with JSS, he was a chameleon, he was a great frontman, he slayed their catalog, etc. But I don't really care how Schon is off the stage. I worship his geeetar. Its all about the music.

sj & tito have done more ass kissing then all the perry, augeri & soto "loons" put together. you guys have no room to talk. in case you guys haven't noticed most soto fans just choose to ignore you. i really could give a rats ass what you guys have to say about anything really... especially when it's about jss.

Case in point...as soon as Never Walk Away came out Soto and the other gaggle of Loons swooped down and tried selling us that it was a rip off of Be Good To Yourself and Believe In Me. That's not letting go of past schutt. And I've been to 6 shows and haven't heard one person say that the 2 songs sound even remotely the same. :)

They were just stating the obvious. Still a cool song though.

SJ - a new week, but same old song and dance, eh?

Neal did that in the last interview and got roasted here for that.

What mess? Everything is fine. Only a few people created a tangled web...for themselves. It turned out fine for the band and most of us.

I have said that many times. I'm in total agreement with Cain here.

Cain also reiterated Arnel makes them better people.

What a good man, Cain is. He never says a bad word about anybody...unless it's justified.

This post gets my vote for laugh of the week.
