I do also agree with Linda though. There sure seems to be an 'old boys club' mentality here. There is a double standard. Men can do things and nothing is said. Like the above poster stated, at this stage in the game, there was NO WAY they could've waited years for Augeri to POSSIBLY heal. Even if it was guaranteed he would be able to come back, I don't think they could've waited 2-3 years or whatever. Plus, they've waited for singers in the past and that bit them in the ass.

No. I'm not. There are gray areas to both sides, no doubt, as with anything, but there is a pattern with Journey. Maybe my problem is that I believe in people more than money and business. How long did DL wait for Rick to recover and basically learn to drum all over again? They didn't call him up and go "Dude, pull your ass together and say yay or nay because we're already looking at other drummers" or "you know, you can't play anymore so the temp guy is coming on permanent".

Did they even bother looking into whether SA was going to be able to come back? I don't remember them even mentioning his name once JSS was on board BUT I don't have any of the special "inside info" so I don't know what went on.

And I'm not even saying that moving on in all three cases was wrong, but in all three cases it was handled in a pretty scummy way.

I could be wrong, but it seems that it was pretty clear that Augeri's voice was shot. In hindsight, we can all review things now and compare objectively and see that he was struggling for quite some time. Herbie said it was a problem for the New Years 2000 Gig even. So, if I'm those guys...and he hasn't sang well in over a year, and the diagnosis is very long-term recovery...GEEZ, I move on too. Were they supposed to forgo a huge 2006, 2007 so maybe in 2008 he could go back to struggling and then they'd need to take off 2009 too? I don't think the business plan calls for 10 year hiatuses any longer. Its a working band that tours A LOT. They already threw enough friggin time away!

Regarding Rick Allen - that guy was back within 2 years...no? And they weren't in their 50's. If something were to happen to him now, they'd have a new drummer by lunch me thinks. The window is closing.

I totally agree with BJG. (so I must be stupid too....but so be it.) They didn't even wait months to see what was going to happen. JSS took over in what.....June?? And 5 mos later he was announced as the new singer?? AND if they hadn't toured endlessly every single year his voice might not have been in the state that it was. What would the harm be in taking a year off from touring??

If you look it from the complete ouside, no one is innocent. I said this in a PM and someone dared me to post it, so I will. The bottom line, Journey fucks everyone. From day 1.

And by Journey I mean all of them. They booted RF in a kinda of scuzzy way. Perry fucked them 2 by 2, Noah's Ark style, first taking out Ross and Steve S (though that one's debatable, but he admitted it), then the other two a couple years later.

Then Journey fucked Kevin and Gregg in favor of Perry, the Perry fucked them all again without even a reach-around (depending which version you believe), then Journey fucked him back, then they fucked two more guys. Even Hefner is jealous of all the fucking these guys do.

Ooooh, well I've already seen Steve Augeri... and Gregg Rolie... coming up soon is Steve Smith...
