They should've done the text message thing and punked Obama. His leaked before they sent out their text.

Besides being hot, she still gets busy (if you know what I mean). She just had a son earlier this year who had down syndrome - Glenn Beck did a feature on her a few months ago I remember. I remember reading in an article a few months ago, she used to smoke pot. I just read her oldest son will be going to Iraq on Sept. 11.

I like her already... hunting? Chilling at a diner? Pot-smoker in her youth? This is my kind of VP candidate. 8)

Yes she did. I like her. If I was McCain I would be doing commericals like a mofo during Deadliest Catch.

Love how the dems. promised everything last night with no plan to back it up....and the Disney music

"She hunts, eats moose hamburger, ice fishes, rides snowmobiles, and owns a float plane. Palin holds a lifetime membership with the National Rifle Association. She admits that she used marijuana when it was legal in Alaska, but says that she did not like it."

"Palin was the point guard and captain for the Wasilla High School Warriors, in Wasilla, Alaska, when they won the Alaska small-school basketball championship in 1982; she earned the nickname "Sarah Barracuda" because of her intense play. She played the championship game despite a stress fracture in her ankle, hitting a critical free throw in the last seconds. Palin, who was also the head of the school Fellowship of Christian Athletes, would lead the team in prayer before games."

I like her but honestly I'm not sure of this pick. I don't think she has enough experience and it will hurt McCain with his shots against Obama's lack of experience. She may not do well in a debate with Biden as well. Then again, Quayle didn't hurt Bush 1

Quayle actually held his own in those debates. The only thing people remember from them, though, was Lloyd Bentsen's arrogance.

Exactly as it should be for everyone, no matter what year or president. There's never any substitute for hard work, and no one should ever expect any administration to put them on easy street.

And btw, how can anyone say that Bush is the 'worst in history'? There are 42 other Presidents that I for one know very little about.

THIS JUST IN - McCain picks Palin from Alaska. Interesting...

I thought this was a very good move, cause there were butt loads of people voting for Hillary just because she was a woman. Since Hillary isn't in the race any longer, I think alot of those voters will like to see this woman the VP. But....it could turn disasterous if no one wants to vote for her. But yeah, that surpised the fuck out of a lot of people, including me, when this announcement came. It will be very interesting to see what Obama's going to say and do next.

Picking Sarah Palin is a great move for several different reasons...

- Picking a woman will help him garner SOME female votes and possibly even draw some of Hillary's voters, who already feeling disillusioned.

- She has a son who is going to Iraq, which may diffuse some of the criticism that Republicans send other people's sons and daughters but not their own.

- She is staunchly pro-life and will help draw some of the pro-life voters who were a little apprehensive at the possibility of McCain picking Romney (even though Romney claims to have "changed" his mind on the issue).

- She has executive experience. Granted, not much, but more than Obama and Biden.

- Her husband is a member of a labor union with a job as a commercial fisherman, so this gives them a strong tie to the common, working man.

- She is a mother of 5, including a special needs child with Down's Syndrome, so she will appeal to mothers.

- She's fought corruption in the Alaskan state government.

- She has a history of working with both Republicans AND Democrats.

Typically, the VP candidate doesn't do much to help elect the President but I think, in this case, it may give McCain more of a boost than previous Presidential candidates have gotten from their selections. I'll reserve my final judgment until I learn more about her but this looks like a really good selection at this point.

Dave, all anyone remembers is how bad Quayle fucked up, and what a moron he was.

I think this is a brilliant choice:

a) women voters will be attracted to the ticket
b) any attacks against her inexperience will be hypocritical
c) she's young and attractive
d) she's something of a maverick

This was a brilliant move by McCain, and I think it will be enough to push him over the top.

Palin seems amiable enough but isn't she anti-gay and anti-choice? Either way history is in the making. The US is either going to get it's first black president or it's first female vice president.

If all of what your saying is true, sounds like she's a shit hot candidate. But still the bottom line is will people vote for McCain for her.

Hillary got to be shitting bricks. But I'm sure Hillary will still be involved behind the scenes in the Obama camp.

Can Obama repick his running mate? I'm curious if he's second thinking that perhaps he should have picked Hillary, for those vote factors. And if he did change at this stage in the game, after he's made the running mate announcement, how would that go over?

In fairness, her beliefs do stand in stark contrast to what most Hillary supporters stand for. If they vote out of continued frustration and not on the issues, McCain will win in a landslide. The only way Obama's campaign has a chance is to remind those swing voters (women) what their belief system is.

Are you serious?!?!?! Bill and Hillary fucking hate Obama. Their postured speeches preserved his "legacy" and her political career, but don't be fooled...they can't stand Obama. Behind the scenes the Clintons will be doing everything possible to "deep six" Obama's chances. It's the only way Hillary can run again in 4 years.

For the large number of Clinton voters who are saying they wont vote for Obama, it is evidently more about gender than Her stance on the issues, and that may be the deciding factor of this race/election. If so, I hope they wont be complaining when the supreme court with its 2 new McCain appointees overturns Roe v Wade.
