Taking the war to Iraq does nothing to curtail a terrorist attack on US soil.

We've been hit domestically a grand total of....zero times since the advent of the war!!! Though we were told there were "many more to come."

The war in Iraq was never about WMD.

As far as you not losing any rights, please read up on the Patriot act. The US government can now eavesdrop on your phone calls and internet activity. They can effect searches and seizures of your property and imprison you without charging you with a crime, or give you access to legal council and can hold you without probable cause, indefinitely. You're denied your first and fourth amendment rights in this instance, both of which are supposedly inalienable.

We live in vastly different times than when the ammendments were written. Terrorists have adapted and exploited our freedoms and some of them had to be re-assessed as to not be vulnerable ever again. If you feel like the government is gonna barge into your house and arrest you while you're surfing porn in one window and posting on MR in another with a beer in your left hand then you need couch help. Those adaptations are for the bad guys, Rick. You're safe, buddy. No one is going to "out" you for surfing senior citizen porn sites.

It's Congress' approval rating that's at 9%. The Democrats can't approve anything because the Republicans have them hog tied. It takes 60% to approve anything in congress and the Democrats don't control 60%. The Republicans would rather walk through hell with a gasoline covered overcoat on than approve anything the Democrats submit.

John McCain did a good job tonight of reminding me why I like him. I didn't expect him to bring up the things he has done in the past that have angered his conservative base. Not only did he bring them up, he held them up as a point of pride. That is what I wanted to see - exactly.

I still have some questions regarding policies and I will take my time to research and prioritize which candidate is truer to my family's goals. But, at least now, I am happy to see the person who I've voted for here in Arizona several times is going to take his attitude with him into this election.

It took balls for McCain to broach some of those subjects with the honesty he did tonight. He's a good man, and he would make a great Commander in Chief. I just don't think he'll be enough of a change to turn this country and economy around, and change our status in the rest of the world.
