OT - Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day

In your fine green ware
I will walk with you tonight
In your raven hair
I will find a summer night

Upon far flung soil
I will run you through my head
In my daily toil
All the promises are said

For I know the weary can rise again
I know it all from the
words you send

I will go, I will go
I will leave the firelight
I will go, I will go
For now the time is right

I will sing a young man's song
That you would sing
On remembrance day
I will be the sacrifice
And bells will ring
On remembrance day

I must leave this land
And the hunger that is here
But the place I stand
Is the one I love so dear

Thank you for the post man...it means a lot to me! Just seeing those big beautiful buildings standing there brings back bitter memories. I HATE the fuckers that brought the destruction they did to this country, and there's nothing I wouldn't give to make those people re-appear.

Fighting soldiers is one thing...we sign up for it! Bringing the fight to absolutely innocent men, women, and children makes me absolutely sick to my fucking stomache!!! I hope this never happens again, but I'm scared to death to think that if Obama gets elected, that he's gonna want to sit down and talk to these people to settle our differences!?? Wake your asses up America! You can't talk to, negotiate with, or deal with people who would rather slit our throats than talk to us!!!

I'm drunk, and done for the night, but I hope for all of our sakes that that fucking retard never gets elected!

You're welcome G.I. Jim.

We all agree on protecting the innocents. Sadly, this type of tragedy can happen regardless of who's in office. We have to be vigilant no matter what part of the country we're in. Hopefully TPTB will have the systems in place to detect and prevent future threats.

I also need to give credit for the poem/song posted above. Written by Stuart Adamson.

i've considered myself democrat for years but i'm voting for mccain/palin in this election and starting to lean more toward republican.remembering today is september 11th i don't see how any american could vote for obama after hearing him say he would be willing to meet with terrorists in other countries to talk if it ever came down to that.if the shit hits the fan there is no time to talk because its time to kick ass and not sweet talk and look weak.we need people in there who are going to protect america so we don't have another attack like we did on september 11,2001.

I was getting ready for work this morning and had Fox & Friends on. They did 20 minutes showing the series of events that day and the tears just started coming. I can't believe how hard this still hits me. The terror on the faces of the people screaming and running down the street as the buildings started to fall is embedded in my brain for life.

I think of your friends often Mindy praying for their families and loved ones.
Give your Hubby Bub a big ole hug from Moonie today please and tell him thank you muchly
for the marvelous job he does.

Has there been a day in any of our lives over the past 7 years that we haven't thought of this tragedy?
Surley not in mine.
How I wish the tears we've cried could offer comfort to the lives of those left living with
the sorrow of this day.

Thank you to all of the people that serve, protect and guide us.

Maria, so sorry about your football buddy. I think people tend to forget about the aftermath, later on, to the families. :( :( Hugz!

I can't imagine the guilt & loss Steve was feeling having lost so many friends and co-workers. It's got to be overwhelming.

Think of all the children, families and friends that lost someone that day. It's really mind boggling.

Worse than Pearl Harbor because it targeted only civillians. At least in PH, they had some chance of fighting back.

Total cowardice on the part of the terrorists is what 9/11 was.

that's just it. people don't realize the ripple effect that occurred. all those that were on the pile for so many days and the health issues they are encountering now, the trauma of those that ran from the building, the children who lost parents............they are also why we should never forget and mourn together today.

thanks rhiannon for your thoughts.

I'm so sorry, Maria. We see the victim's names on lists, and mourn for them, yet these terrorists are still claiming more victims here in the US, in your friend and the countless people that are suffering physical and mental health issues today. For a long time, I felt enormous guilt because my husband, who is a fireman, came home to me...and my friend Patty's husband, also a fireman, also my husband's friend, died in the south tower. I felt guilty even mentioning that I had a husband, mentioning his name around her. :(

I was thinking yesterday that I was finally feeling a little better about things, but once I started watching the name reading, I lost it completely.

Thanks Moonie...that means a lot.

Not surprising, given the rancid tenor of the Republican Convention, but disgusting nonetheless.
